I'm in Las Vegas right now and have been getting into blackjack. What's your game of choice and why?

James... I absolutely agree with you about Blackjack. That and Craps are just about the only games where the house edge is so marginal that it is actually possible to win in the long-term.

You could also add Roulette into the mix there, but personally I'd always side with Blackjack.

Slots are the one you absolutely MUST avoid at all costs. Okay, chuck a few coins in for a flutter if they take your fancy, but you definitely don't want to play them for any length of time.

Here's a cool piece of software you can use for playing Blackjack online...

Check it out - it's pretty slick and it's free, which is a bonus :-)

I could probably write a book concerning your question. After living there for 5 years I have a lot of insights on the gaming world. My game of choice really depends on what I am looking for. Am I looking for the best odds of winning money? If that is the case then I would choose Baccarat. And here is one of my "Vegas Secrets", I am not trying to racial when I say this, so please do not interrupt it as such. But when playing Baccarat if an Oriental bets $10,000 on bank at a low limit table, follow suit with a larger than normal bet of your own on bank. I can honestly say that in 5 years, I have never lost that bet. I know that it may sound weird, but trust me it is a lock. If I am looking for excitment. You know high energy, etc... then a lively Craps table or a action filled Roulette table will do nicely. If I am in the mood to do some time filled gambling, the only way to go is Texas Holdem. Stay away from the $10-$20 games, they may look and sound like the way to go, but those games are full of the Vegas sharks, especially after 10:00pm till 7:00am. Vegas sharks know that visitors will be drunk and tired. Vegas sharks know that visitors think that the $10-$20 game would be more safe because of the money on the line. What visitors fail to realize is that money in Veags means absolutely nothing, thus making the $10-$20 game the least "safe" game in Vegas(especially at the Horseshoe), if you are looking for a "good" game I recommend the $4-$8-$12 game at the Flamingo. But what if I just want to get drunk and let loose? I have two choices that I like. My first choice is playing Pai-Gow poker. In Pai-Gow you must lose both top and bottom hand in order to lose your money. The opposite is also true, but sense I just want to get drunk and cut loose I really don't care if I win anything, I just don't want to lose.(I would stay awat from the Rio for playing Pai-Gow, at the Rio they play to win the hands and not to push, so what that means is that they will play an aggressive strategy as compared to the Barbary Coasts strategy of we will push until we win. Odds are always in the favor of the house, just some houses want it quicker than others), or I like to play the nickel video poker machines. $50 will go a long way on the nickel machines and for tips for the cocktail waitress(always tip your cocktail watresses, you will never know when they might give you some good advice on which machines to play, besides they are fairly "hot" and its fun to give money to pretty women) Have fun, and good luck to you!

Blackjack and Craps. If you are looking for a time killer, Pai Gow Poker is one of the best in Vegas.

CRAPS IS A GOOD GAME TO PLAY. IT OFFERS THE PLAYER A LOW HOUSE PERCENTAGE IF PLAYED CORRECTLY. LEARN ANY GAME COMPLETELY BEFORE YOU PUT DOWN ANY MONEY. IF YOU STAY WITH BLACKJACK,USE BASIC STRATEGY. EITHER GAME IS FUN,AND YOU CAN BE A WINNER MORE OFTEN THAN WITH OTHER CASINO GAMES.
