Someone said I have to have God in my life to be happy. Has anyone seen God? I put an ad in the paper "I want God in my life so I can be happy" and got many calls, but none of them made me happy.

Why would someone tell me I need God? How do I get God into my life. What does he do to make you happy?

Seek him. If you are a current USA resident, as I am, let me pass something on to you also. Many folks ahead of us in this country, did not 'clean things up' regarding God's word. The scriptural (2 Tim. 3:16-17) old testament is the law of Moses; not Genesis-Malachi. (Common sense; one can not have the law of Moses until Moses is born, Exodus 2). There are other points; but that should get you started. (I am researching deviation #7 currently).

Seek God. Pray. This might feel awkward at first because you aren't used to talking to God. Read your Bible. Find someone who knows about God and ask him questions. Whoever told you that you needed God will probably be willing to help you. I think he was right. There is no greater happiness than knowing that an all-powerful God loves you personally.

There is a cute bumper sticker that says:

"I found God. He was behind the sofa the whole time."

When you really want and need him, he will be there. And then you will know what people are talking about.

The sad thing is- they SKIPPED over the important truth of Jesus Christ- do you know what makes you happy in Him? KNOWING you are a sinner and knowing that He died for you so you could be set free.
The wages of sin is death- Romans 6:23
When one receives the truth of Jesus by believing that he DID die on the cross and that he DID rise again- defeating death then they are saved- set free from sin- eternally greatful and joyful to know that JESUS has given them eternal life through HIm as a FREE gift. The alternative is hell. So of course one would be FILLED with the Joy of the Lord after knowing what He did for them. I am so thankful to know Jesus died for me- and not only that but because I believe in Him and want to follow Him- he has filled me with Joy as a bonus! His Holy Spirit resides in those who are saved- who believe and trust Him- and the Holy Spirit leads us into all truth- teaching us- And giving us Joy and peace.
I have NO fear of death- for I know God is with me- and that He will never forsake me.

It is the JOY of HIS salvation! That is what brings me MORE Joy- True Joy comes from Him~Because he has saved me- and if you believe, and recognize you too have sinned against God- according to His standards, and repent of your sin- that means turn away from sin and ask the Lord to forgive you- He WILL. If you TRULY are seeking Him- with all your heart. The Lord is Good- and what He did, NOTHING compares.

To those who do believe:
1 John 5:11
And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

1 John 5:20
We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true—even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

-To those who do not believe:
Mark 1:15
"The time has come," he said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!"

Our hearts are restless until they rest in him. We need God in our life because our soul knows there is a God and it yearns for him weather we know it or not so we are always not quite complete without him.

I need God coz I know that only he can forgive me.
God listens in this world to everyone, ones who beleive and ones who dont, Christians, jews, Muslims. But after death he will forgive beleivers ..(+ any one HE wishes). I want to be forgiven...and at times of despair whe I ask him...I have seen my prayers and humbl requets come true miraculously.
I know he doest need me. but i cant live without (beleiving in) him.

EDIT: Apart from beleiving one has to follow what he wants us to do in this world ..to be forgiven.
Ofcourse he has the power to forgive anyone..so he can do it anyway...but why take chances!!

He wasn't around either during the Holocaust when the Jews were tortured and murdered by Germans, who were 95% Christians.
