Best, most productive way to calm down is to go work out. Clears your mind, and the physical exertion helps reduce the anger. AND--it's good for your body. It's a win-win situation.

First person video games help with rage.

I know, i use them if i ever get pissed beyond recognition. Games like Day of Defeat, army type games where it isn't so much a spooky game, more of a tactical shooter.

DON'T shoot people in real life.

Also, don't cut yourself. If you're that mad or sad, hit a metal pipe with a wrench, go find a tree and hit it with a hammer, punch a wall (wrap your hand first so you don't bust it open), or get a cat. it's impossible to be mad or sad when you have a cat on ya. Unless he's a douchebag cat, but there aren't many of those.

The moral of this rant: channeling. Channel your negative emotions into other forms which you can control.

Dont do anything in terms of reacting to the reason why youre angry coz you'll just do something or say something you'll regret. I know its hard but you gotta give youself a little time to cool down and think straight. In the meantime talk to someone, it really helps.

Anger is a loud declaration of your defeat and helplessness. Do you want to give it to those who have made you helpless? Certainly not!
So, keep your mind in control and wait for right opportunity to handle the situation.
Best of luck!

I like the bash and burn treatment. Get a hammer and beat the crap out of a piece of wood or anything that you can damage without later regretting it. bash it hard and really get out the frustration. - then burn it and watch the flames.

HJey, be safe about it though and only do it if you have a safe place to burn - like a fireplace.

right it down in a journal, smoosh something smooshible with hands like packing bubble wrap, throw a bunch of old useless stuff away-pare down your environment to simplicity and clear your mind;play loud music of your choice and sing along/dance along; go near a nature filled area;listen to water falling or gurgling somewhere; walk walk walk or run run run breathe in and out deeply; go somewhere different or talk to someone /go to a library and check out some intersting books/movies tapes or comedies.
