The main thing about The Bible is that underneath the stories parables myths and legends are the Truths which if men live by will make this world a better place. The main basis is Do the right things and the right things will happen' Do bad stuff and bad stuff will happen

It is a storybook full of old stories and myths written so long ago, we all know what happens when we play chinese whispers in the same room at the same time, so it doesn't take much intelligence to work out its fiction, it may be loosely connected to some people of old and some deeds of old but exaggerated to form the premise of a religion, lets face it people love to believe in anything if it means they can have a wonderful afterlife or whatever it may be called in whatever religion you happen to believe in, just live for today if there is an afterlife we'll see you there an you can tell us you told us so all along.
Except of coarse any one who has murdered in the name of there religion they will surely rot in hell, lets hope so anyway...,,,

God inspired men to write the books of the Bible.
The Bible says that it is the word of God, and if that is true than it should we need to believe it.
Evolution says that man and dinosaurs were separated by millions of years. The Bible says that man and dinosaurs lived together. There are rocks around the world that have human and dinosaur foot prints in the the same rock. This shows that evolution is unreliable and the Bible is correct.
This is just one point where the Bible shows itself true and the wisdom of man wrong.
If we are just learning about such things now, how could men several thousand years ago write about such unknown things unless they were instructed to write them by the all knowing God?

the 2nd book to Timothy chapter 3 tells us that:
16 All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.
Isaiah chapter 46 also tells us that only Almighty God is the one talked about in this verse
10 the One telling from the beginning the finale, and from long ago the things that have not been done; the One saying, 'My own counsel will stand, and everything that is my delight I shall do.
Scriptural evidence pointing to the time of Jesus' presence is revealed in Matthew chapter 24 verses 3 -14 and Luke chapter 21 verses 7-19.
Finally back to the 2nd book of Timothy and the first 5 verses of chapter 3 reveal this startling vision of people's attitudes:
3 But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3 having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4 betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.

If the Bible was just a romance novel, don't you think everyone would know that by now? It has lasted and endured despite being picked apart, tested for inaccuracies. Historically, the Bible is very accurate, so why shouldn't the rest of it be believed also? Just read it, live it, pray over it and then you will believe it.

Is it real? Well it exists, so in that sense it's real.
It is a collection of old Jewish stories preserved for their wisdom and insight. At times it is glaring and obviously not real, the reference to dragons for example.
The scientist among us can pick holes in the veracity but the intent was pure.
The new testament isn't a contemporaneous account. It is bits cobbled together many years after Jesus life. It was glued by a conclave of bishops who got rid of all the bits they didn't like, The Gospel according to Judas for example.
Look for the NSRV Apocrypha for more details.
Google "Theology".

While there are many proofs of the Bible, I will give you one of the best from within the book itself.
Get out your Bible, and find the book of Psalms. Find and read the 22 chapter. Within this Psalm you will find detail after details of what was said and done during the crucifixion of Jesus. It describes how he would have his hands and feet pierced by the nails when he was cricified. Crucifixion was not invented until around 50 years before the death of Christ.
It gives his open words "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me".
It describes the ridicule he would face from his enemies
It describes how he would thrist and ask for a drink
It describes how the soliders would gamble for his clothing
It describes how after his death, his side would be split with a spear.
It describes how the act of crucifixion would put all of his bones out of joint.
It describes how none of his bones would be broken.
It closes with the words "it is done" in the KJV, which are the exact some words translated "It is finished" in the gospels - Jesus' final words.
Yet this Psalm was written centuries before the time of Jesus. There are still copies of manuscripts from as far back as four hundred years before the time of Jesus. It is quoted in over books, in inscriptions, etc. hundreds of years before the time of Jesus. How did the author of Psalms know all this?
We have four accounts of the life of Jesus Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) that all record how Jesus fulfilled the words of this Psalm. How could that be possible, if the Bible was not divinely inspired.
Take another hour or two and read the gospel of Matthew. Notice how many times (over 90) he list things the Jesus did that were exact fullfillments of things written hundreds of years earlier in the books of the Old Testament. It is not just one chapter of Psalm that was fulfilled, but dozens of others throughout all the books and chapter of the Old Testament.
If you still want more, go to the book of Hebrews. The author deals with how the life of Jesus fullfilled dozens of the Old Testament rituals, like the sacrifices, Passover, sabbath, and more. He shows how they are pictures or shadows of Jesus and the things he would accomplish. It ties the writings of all the Old Testament books together with their fulfullment in the New Testament and Jesus.
There are simply too many still existing manuscripts of the Old Testament to be able to argue that they did not exist for at least 400-500 years before the time of Jesus. Plus they are quoted in hundreds of others books and commentaries from hundreds of years before Jesus.
Maybe Jesus could have deliberately fulfilled some of the prophecies- said or done certain things, but is kind of hard to predetermine where you are born, or what your enemies are going to say or do. How do you convince the soliders to gamble for your clothes, or to run a spear through your side after you are dead?
While there are many many other proves, (and I will be glad to send you some if you want), the fulfillment of hundreds of Old Testament prophecy in the life of Jesus is one of the best.
