The have a personal edition which is free to home computer users. They make their money selling to businesses. Install it and then about once a day it automatically sends updates without having to think about it. A little window pops up in the right hand bottom corner and a guy says to you "Virus database has been updated". Better than any anti virus program I ever paid for.
Doesn't gum up your computer like Norton or those others.

I use Microsoft Firewall and also Windows Defender, both of which are free at microsoft.com.

AVG from grisoft.com .

Though if you know which virus it is, it might be easier just to find out what to do to be rid of that particular one. Some wont be flattened by a virus scan.
