Try Pilates.. it teaches you how to engage you Powerhouse (stomach) and from experience it works wonders.. i find myself engaging my stomach muscles even when I"m walking in Wal-mart!! Get a Pilates dvd.. i think you'll love it!

Well, you can do all the crunches you like, but there are two things that are wrong with just doing crunches. One, it builds up the muscle, but just because you have muscle doesn't mean that you can SEE it. I don't mean to be offensive, but if you have fat covering your muscles, they will be hidden. You should couple the crunches with some consistent cardio exercise and being health conscious. I don't mean going on a crazy starvation diet, i mean being smart and trying to balance what you eat, and make substitutions for healthier things when possible. The other problem is maybe you are only doing one exercise, the crunches. To be toned, you have to have variety. There are tons of different ab exercises...like lying flat on your back and putting you legs straight and then curling them, or doing both legs and upper body at once, or doing crunches on your side, or trying to hold a push up position for a minute or 2. It should not be hard to find exercise ideas online.

Hope this helps!

Chris

BECAUSE YOU CAN'T SPOT REDUCE YOUR FAT!!! If I had a dime for every time I said that on Yahoo answers, I'd be rich. You cannot magically reduce weight in only one part of your body. My advice - cardio 3 days a week (and do some sprints, or climb stairs for cardio - building muscle in your legs will help make your waist look smaller, along with giving the regular benefits of cardio) and cut down on sugar whenever possible! Good luck!

You may be doing the crunches incorrectly. If possible ask your phy ed teacher to spot you to make sure you are correctly placing yourself. You could be working your back instead of your abs. Try yoga , pilates or isometrics along with the crunches to make sure you are strenghening your entire ab area.

actually try the 'push away' where you push yourself away from the table after eating so much
you can do crunches til the cows come home and they wont do anything for the fat on your stomach they'll just build muscle underneath the fat.....and YOU CANT TURN MUSCLE INTO FAT
