I'd say it is a food if you let it set, but a drink if you ingest it before it sets .... however, aren't drinks also considered foods??????

Well food can be something you drink too but Jello is something that is made as a liquid and it congeals into that jiggly stuff we know as Jello and is eaten with a spoon. Jello is really flavord gelating which comes from the hooves, bones, ligaments of hooved animals such as cows, sheep, etc.

Because of the myriad ways you can serve it solid and mixed with fruits and vegetables and other established foods, I'd put jello firmly in the "food" category. Nobody I know drinks jello unless it is mixed with alcohol. It can be served liquid or solid, but its accepted reception is in the solid state.

The medical profession considers it a clear liquid, and with the advent of Jello shots, I lean toward a drink.

It's whatever you want it to be. If you want to eat it...then chill it(add fruit if you want), or just mix it with cool water and drink it.
