You need to break them first, there's not two ways about it, you can't just stick it into the frying pan with it's shell still on.

but better to try placing the frying pan on a medium heat and add oil or butter to grease, whichever you prefer. A thin coat on the bottom of the pan is sufficient.

Let it heat for a couple of minutes or so until it is very hot and starting to sizzle. Now you should break the egg into the pan by cracking it on the edge of the pan in the middle of the shell.

Don't let shell drop into the pan or go right through and break the yolk, so when you crack it, be firm but too heavy handed. Once there is a crack in it, use both your hands to break the shell open and allow the egg to come out and into the pan.

You can reduce the heat a bit once the egg is in the pan, and leave to cook slowly, don't be tempted to rush it. To work out if the egg is cooked, take a knife and place the tip into the white a little away from the yolk, and if there is now white sticking to it when you take the knife away, then the egg is cooked. The yolks should start to thicken but not be rock solid.

There are of course lots of different ways of cooking the egg and everybody has their own preference. An "over easy" egg is very popular and is turned when the whites are just about done and the yolk is quite firm.

When you flip an egg, use a spatula and slide it right under the egg, keeping it low down near the pan, and gently turn it over. Cook for about 15 seconds longer after turning.

Make sure the oil's hot. Just put a fairly small amount (a tablespoon or less) in a frying pan. To test that it's hot enough, flick a drop of water onto it. It should sizzle. Then you're ready to cook the egg.

Heat the pan, then add oil, wait until the oil is hot before cracking your egg in it, once the eggs in turn the heat down, don't be tempted to try and move it around until it has set on the bottom.

Put some oil into a oan, just enough to thinly coat the bottom of the pan. Heat it up until it starts to sizzle. When it does that, crack the egg right into the pan (if you're not good at cracking eggs, crack it in a bowl first so you can pick out any shell bits that fall in, and then dump it gently into the pan). Let it sit there and fry for a couple of minutes, depending on how cooked you like your eggs. If you like them sunny-side-up, all you have to do next is carefully pick them up with a spatula and slide them onto your plate. If you like them sunny-side-down, you need to CAREFULLY flip them over with the spatula and let them cook on the other side for a couple more minutes. DO NOT attempt to flip them over by jerking the pan, like they do in the movies, as that can only end badly if you're not experienced at it. Enjoy!!

Hot oil, I use some spray oil stuff.

I heard that putting the lid on top of a pan will help cook it more thoroughly because it keeps the heat in and help cooks the top.

I use butter. About 1/2 table spoon, Not to hot. crack egg in pan let cook slowly until bottom sets. If you want sunny side up continue to cook for about 1 minute. If you want over easy turn over and cook approx 30 seconds. Key is to use a non stick pan.
