Sorry to gross y'all out but I'm a little worried...

Just passed a stool which looked relatively normal except for a couple of small bright red bits. I did have red peppers for dinner last night so could this just be a bit of that or could it possibly be blood? This has happened a few times before but it's always been after I've eaten tomatoes or something red (I'm not a very good chewer).

Plus, what does blood look like in a stool? Would it be like a couple of hard red specks moulded in with an otherwise normal stool?

Hope nobody's eating while reading this!

As a rule of thumb, if what you see is bright red, clean looking blood, and if you don't feel any significant pain, it's likely that it's an anal fissure or something superficial close to the exit point.

However, if the blood is brownish in colour and is dirty looking, it could mean that there is some damage farther up the colon. This could be due to something more serious such as a tumor, etc.

Either way, consult your GP.

Tomatoes or peppers have very indigestible skin which will hang around if not chewed well (most people can find them 'afterwards' if they cared to look!) so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

If you had serious blood loss in the intestine or gut the stools would be black (as has been mentioned already).

If it's not coming off on your toilet paper but just appears as part of what you've done then it's only the peppers, if it does come off on the paper but the stools themselves aren't black, then you might just have piles - which should clear up of their own volition if you drink a bit more each day and use some cream.

Pepper In Stool

OK, the next stool sample u can put it in a clean baggie and take to Dr office for lab to examine. But chili, red bell peppers, and other things like tomatoes especially the skin will look like blood too. R U having trouble going to the bathroom? U do know hemorrhoids cause blood too.

Usually blood in stool is loogie like mucus mushy...when u wipe with tissue does it lightly streak the toilet tissue? That is the easiest way to tell if u got blood. It's always safe to go to Dr. but I would only spend the money if after several bowels it continues and you've not eaten anything in the red families of tomatoes...etc... Drink lots of water and possibly take a colace (stool softener) if u irritated your bowels by straining to go to the bathroom.

It's probably nothing, but colon cancer is no joke so if in doubt get it ck out. Good luck and I hope it's only tomatoes or bell peppers...

Sounds perfectly normal - the skins of peppers, tomatoes etc... are very difficult for the human digestive system to break down, so they usually come out undigested, though usually broken up in small pieces. So it sounds like all you have is bits of undigested pepper skin there!

If it was blood in your stools then it usually appears as very black tarry stools accompanied by a foul smell. The only time you would get red blood in your stools is if you had something like piles (hemorrhoids).

If you have blood in your stools it usually means the stool will be darker (almost black) due to the iron content of blood. I think it's just your food! When you wipe your backside, have a look at the toilet paper, because you'll realise then if there's blood there or not. If there is blood, in most cases it's from piles/haemorrhoids and not anything too drastic to worry about, just get medicated cream or see your doctor. I still think it's just your food though - quit not chewing properly!

Peppers and tomatoes if not chewed properly will go all the way through and remain red, so this is the likely cause. Blood if bright red is likely low in the colon and will be smeared over the stool not in specks like you describe. If you have bleeding further up the digestive tract, the stool will be blackened. If bleeding inside is bad enough, the stool will be tar black.

You have answered this yourself as somethings can go through the digestive tract and are not affected. Sweet corn is notorious for going through unchanged. Blood from within the tract usually appears black if you detect blood on the stool it is likely to have come fron the anus as it passed out. ANY blood in any part of the stool if is regular should be checked out.

I had hemorrhoids problems for different years. I was basically simply excessively embarrassed to go to a doctor or to the pharmacy to request a hemorrhoid treatment. At last I went to a doctor that tried to do everything in her power to help me, yet unfortunately the prescription didn't work. Surgery was impossible! By then, I was powerless, embarrassed and with just about no social life, so I've chosen to try something else. Then I discovered this method: http://treathemorrhoid.kyma.info I purchased this book on the most proficient method to dispose of hemorrhoids naturally notice it helped me a great deal! I don't feel torment anymore! I wish I had it years before. I can't accept how rapidly I got relief (just about overnight!) they've never returned and I don't worry about it anymore in light of the fact that on the off chance that they do, I know precisely what to do. After reading the book and making a move in 48 hours the ache, irritation, tingling and draining was gone. To my surprise I could permanently cure my hemorrhoids 100% naturally. Hemorrhoids are fundamentally engorged veins. The veins return the blood to the heart and those from the lower parts of the body work against gravity to push blood again to the heart. At the point when the blood becomes thicker because of one's absence of water admission, the blood gets pooled in the veins in light of the fact that blood is more hard to stream. This makes them get engorged and become bigger. On the off chance that this happens in the rectal area, it becomes hemorrhoids. I can assure you that I tackled my hemorroids problems with this system: http://treathemorrhoid.kyma.info It's definitly the most ideal approach to effectively dispose of hemorreoids.

go to the doctor, blood in your stool has two colors. if it"s dark red,its old blood and has been there awhile. Bright red means fresh bleeding. More than likely you have internal hemmoroids, the doc can take care of this in office. It stings but works, little rubber bands up your helloooo and they tie off. It could also be pollups, only the light scope in hospital, up your helloooo again.Worse case colon cancer........DO NOT WAIT ANY LONGER> GO TO DOC
