Some of the most "spiritual" experiences I've had were watching meteor showers - I've seen some spectacularly large and colorful showers in recent years.

Questions: how did various cultures in the past view these events, from a religious perspective?

Have you ever seen a good meteor shower? Do you plan to watch the Leonids this Saturday (tomorrow) night?

See Yahoo's news article below for more info.

I intend to watch it.

And I agree with Carl Sagan. I have felt more in awe of my Creator at natural history museums, in Alaska, and watching cute panda cubs grow on zoo Panda Cams than I have ever felt in any church or revival meeting.

I saw a meteor leave a vertical trail through a clear morning sky as the sun just starting to rise. The effect was as if there was an intense light behind a tear in the fabric of the world and it was opening up as the trail moved towards the ground. It was stunning and spectacular, I can only imagine what primitive, or superstitious people would have made of such a thing.

Whoever wrote the headline did not study the object impressive. the object wisely sys that the height of the bathe replaced into this morning after nighttime, which maximum individuals might want to call "Friday nighttime" besides the undeniable fact that it technically is Saturday morning. maximum non-astronomers do not realize that the date adjustments at evening. besides, the height bathe replaced into at 3 a.m. this morning, about 5 hours in the past as I write this. people make this mistake with virtually each and every meteor bathe, as all of them have maximums after nighttime. Writing articles about them myself, I continually attempt to be extremely sparkling. for that reason, the object were given it good, besides the undeniable fact that the headline author screwed up.

I am still waiting to see a shower with 4 to 5 meteors per minute - that would be quite spectacular.
