What does disposal of the body have to do with religion, out of curiousity? We bury the dead for the advantage of the living .. so they have a place to grieve, to visit their lost relatives, etc.
Atheists have family, just as the religious do. The act of burying the dead or cremating the dead doesn't have religious origins, so why do you suggest that it should be saved for the religious??
The only difference would be in the funeral, that's it.

Actually all bodies should be returned to the earth, from where we came, life and death is all part of a cycle and all life is also part of a food chain, in death there is rebirth and new life that continues on & on .it's true there are many people and buriel is a bit difficult if it's done in caskets and stone headers.due to over crowding and need of land space. Being buried in a steel casket doesnt return us to the earth , bodies should be placed directly back into the earth or even ocean, perhaps bodies that die from an outbreak of disease or contagious disease would warrant incineration or cremation.Eating a body that died is not a good idea unless out of desperation of starvation but that s rare, ritualistic canabilism is odd and probably not leagal to sarifice one's body for this, I don't know what bin you are refering to? Do you mean mass graves? Isn't that onl;y for emergancies in large number fatalities of a disaster? What is relevent for burial is more for the living then the dead and if a person is an atheist, it would be up to his/her family not their lack of religion.Potters field here in the city is a burial ground for the unclaimed bodies identity known or not, I think they don't burn them in case retrievel is necessary.why would you throw a body anywhere? still disrespectful and an odd choice for an alleged religiouly identified person to suggest that for someone who believes other then they?

Why do you may come to a call? Why not turn over my atheist continues to be to my atheist family individuals and enable them come to a call? i want to be buried contained in the family individuals plot, no matter if i'm buried entire or my cremated continues to be are buried. Chucked right into a bin? it fairly is this style of thoughtful and variety advice! i fairly do take offence at it. (also, I propose you purchase an English grammar e book. Your question could be, "What to do if an atheist dies?" Your different sentence "why not atheist write....?" is previous conception.)

As many of my organs as are usable will go to enhance the lives of those who need them. What is left will be cremated.
Some atheists want to be cremated, some buried (become part of the earth; fertilizer), some donate their bodies to science, and some don't care, since it will just be a dead body.

I wouldn't be surprised if I got thrown in the bin, my mum's always done that to our pets instead of burying them...
Hey, just cuz I'm non-religious it doesn't mean I don't treasure my body. I get pissed off if I damage any part of it permentantly, what makes you think I'd just want to throw it away when I'm done with it (or rather when it's done with me)?

Their families love them and wouldn't want to throw the person's body in the garbage. What kind of monster are you? I'd seriously be interested to know what faith you practice that would encourage this level of disrespect.

in theory an atheist shouldn't really care what you do....
I think its a big step to call yourself athiest, i prefer to think of myself as an agnostic.
They can burn me though, i dont like the idea of possibly being buried alive... i have many enemys, lol.

if they had expressed wishes, then you follow that, otherwise you would bury them according to what you thought best,,, the actual means(grave/tomb/cremation) of burial , for most people, doesnt have anything to do with religion, the ceremony/words spoken at a funeral does,,,,,,

The body is a shell, everything I was disappears when my brain shuts down
I'm going to be creamated, my ashes scattered and my family will have an Irish wake for me...
It will be a celebration of my life and not a mournful occasion.

Why would you be disrespectful to a body just because the person was an atheist?
