Very probably, yes. After the worst few weeks of shingles, the rash often becomes scabby. Is the scabby rash in the same place as the shingles blisters were?

The key thing about shingles is that in most immunocompetent people (i.e. not just had chemotherapy, not HIV +ve, not on shed-loads of steroids, etc) it keeps itself to ta a single well defined area of the body, usually a "stripe" on the trunk, following the curvature of the ribs. This is because the virus infects a nerve root and the rash affects all the skin that the nerve supplies.

So if this scabby rash is in a different place from the original shingles rash, it may be something different.

Very many times, specific. After the worst few weeks of shingles, the rash maximum ordinarily will become scabby. Is the scabby rash in the comparable problem because of the fact the shingles blisters have been? the considerable ingredient approximately shingles is that for the duration of plenty immunocompetent persons (i.e. now no longer only had chemotherapy, now no longer HIV +ve, now no longer on shed-fairly a rather good variety of steroids, and a rather good variety of others) it maintains itself to ta a single stable defined self-discipline of the physique, on the completed a "stripe" on the trunk, following the curvature of the ribs. that's provided that the virus infects a nerve root and the rash impacts the completed dermis that the nerve provides. So if this scabby rash is in one greater problem from the common shingles rash, it relatively is a few difficulty specific.

Sounds like it - the average time for the rash to subside is 3-5 weeks, though somtimes it is longer. The entire case of it can take a few months to clear completely.
