Here's the deal. I haven't dated much in my 22 years of life (hardly at all, really), and I don't really mind my single status, but I really wouldn't mind finding "the guy" either. About a week ago a man asked me out, and suddenly I'm terrified! I don't know why. I'm usually pretty confident and self-assured, so I'm not sure if it's the guy (he's quite a bit older and not really like anyone I've ever hung out with before) or if a sudden wave of self doubt has come over me, or what... Help!

Sometimes your gut instincts are your best resources. If someone asks you out, and your insides are telling you something - you should listen! However, if you think it's just the thought of going out with him that scares you, and not the dude himself - then you should just go for it! Make sure you go to a place that you are comfortable with and just see how it goes. I've dated a lot and I find that it's best to start out by just talking to someone over coffee or a drink....you don't want to do anything too hardcore, and never go to a movie on the first date! You will never be able to talk!!
Good luck, and don't forget to work it, girlfriend!

U & I r actually in some-what of the same boat. I literally REFUSED to date anybody in highschool. It wasn't because I had low self-esteem, I just chose not to put up with the games that high-school boys played. Then, upon graduation, I ended up meeting this AMAZING guy who is actually about 6 years older than me. It surprised ME when I found myself in a relationship with him, not only because that was something I didn't like to get involved with, but also because I was just about to say "forget it" when it came to wanting to find true love...out of nowhere, he appeared!
Just take a deep breath and relax. Don't plan too much on the future, just take it one day at a time. As you get to know this guy, you'll learn more about him...and if it's true love, havin' him in your life will teach u so much more about yourself. You don't need to have any doubt about yourself, especially not right now, because YOU choose what you want him to know about u.

You seem intimidated, He is older...
Has an established life? Home?
It could very well be that you think he is dating to find a wife... not dating to date. Just see what happens dont fret on whats not happening.
Someone who causes you self doubt doesnt sound like a positive force in your life... If he seems a possible positive force in your life and its you being freaked out, he could be quite a catch and your baffled if you deserve that? certainly you do! enjoy? :)
good luck..

It sounds like you just need to get "in the saddle." You haven't dated much so you are nervous about doing it again and that is totally understandable. Be yourself and if he likes you he likes you and if he doesn't he doesn't there are many fish in the sea and you will find the right one for you. I believe there is someone out there for everyone and you will probably find him when you least expect it or when you stop trying. Maybe this guy is "the guy" and maybe he isn't but go into it being yourself and that is the quickest way to find out.

Just relax. This isn't like you are getting married to him. It's just a date. Maybe he will be quite fun. Older guys aren't that bad. I'm 34 and would love to date someone too. Older or younger shouldn't matter. Just someone.

keep in mind it is only a date and deal with each step of the relationship with caution and an open mind.

You're just scared. Totally normal! Don't worry. Go with it and be yourself. That's the most important thing.

Do me first to build your confidence. I won't mind when you leave, in fact, I would prefer it.
