Keep it short, make a couple jabs at the groom and express how happy you are for the couple, how beautiful the bride looks; how good they are together.

My cousin got married last month and the best man speech was hilarious. It was the groom's brother, and he says "Dan & i have the same taste in women, so if it doesn't work out for the 2 of you, just give me a call". It was classic.

AND DON'T FORGET TO END IT WITH A TOAST TO THE BRIDE & GROOM.

I would say with a pen, but you could use a pencil if you wanted too.

My other halves best friend who was out best man, read through a few best man speeches that they had on the internet and then adapted them so they suited the occasion, by including some of the things that they had got up too and some of the funny and nice things that he knew about me. Also the fact that he also has the gift of the gab also helped.

You just have to be sincere, keep it clean and honest and just talk about how proud you are to be the best man at your friend or brother or who ever's wedding it is

You want to write something about what a difference you see in the groom when he's with his bride. You want to say that she completes him and definitely makes him a better person. You want to say that you all know that they are soul mates and were meant to be together. You can say that you can see the greatness of their love by the way their souls and hearts meet when they look into each others eyes. Make sure that you say he looks happier now than he ever has the whole time you've known him. Say you know that they have true love and that it's the kind of love that will last forever. Say that you could only hope to have a love like his one day.
Things like that ya know. It will make you look like the greatest best man ever, and if your single you'll have the honey's all over you.

First I hope you are the best man. Secondly is it a formal or semi formal reception. Formal weddings expect the speech to be elaborate, where as semi you can be youself. Just keep in mind, why you two became best friends and it will flow from there. And don't forget to say something about the bride. Good Luck!!!!!!!

I wouldnt think about it as an essay. I think people like it when it comes from the heart..Also if you need ideas..such as a specific topic to talk about that you cant think of go to google.com and you can search for some examples of other people's speechs so you can get an idea of how long the speech should be...good luck!

I disagree that you should totally wing it. The bride and groom put so much time and effort into planning this special day, they deserve for you to at least put a little thought into it. Come up w/ a few ideas at least before hand. Tell a funny story about the groom and then talk about how his new bride makes him so happy and maybe a story about the moment you knew she was the one for your best friend.

Pick stories that are personal to you and the groom but will be funny for everyone else. For example, my friend told stories about his youngest brother (of four brothers) of how they used to torture him as a child, like hold him down and put fertilizer in his mouth. You want to be risky, but not go over that unspoken line.

Then you tie it together, like he said how amongst all the trauma in his life, there came a beacon of light to save him- the bride. then end with sentimental- like how you admire the couple that they are, etc. etc.

Make it short and funny. Something personal about the bride and groom. Above all no insulting comments. This is their best day that they are sharing with you. Make it be good memories for them for the rest of thier lives.
