Please state which country you're from, and if you think it's relevant to your answer, your religion and ethnicity.

I'm putting this in "Religion" because I asked it in "Cultures and groups" and nobody answered.

Father K - I wrote you an explanation but it didn't go through - it said your e-mail address "had not been confirmed".

I meant how Hollywood affects the way people think and act, and especially how people from other countries see America.

What exactly do you mean?

The "overall influence" IN Hollywood...(i.e, their "motivation")...?

Or...do you mean...

The "overall influence" OF Hollywood...(i.e., influence on the world)...?

EDIT: Thank you - I think I fixed the problem - I was linked to a very old e-mail address that no longer exists.

I'm sure there is some effect worldwide....I wish this was not true. It would be like me drawing conclusions about India from "Bollywood" musicals.

It is unfortunate that movies have this kind of power....but - it's there.

Hollywood is only perpetuating the lies of false religion. For example: a common frightful scene in movies is of someone being in a graveyard at night where he is attacked by an "undead" person. Well, in false religion, it is taught that when a person dies, he is not really dead. He can be a vengeful ghost or a ghoul that can harm the living.

But the true religion, as outlined in the Bible, tells us that "the living are conscious that they will die, but as for the dead they are conscious of NOTHING at all." See Eccl. 9:5.

Also, Hollywood would have you believe that smoking, having extra-marital affairs, and the use of profanity are acceptable--vices that are condemned by the Bible.

Lots of gays in Hollywood. That's fine. But being in the closet, and ashamed of it is bad. I used to work in Hollywood. Everyone knows who the gay stars are. The average American goes into denial when they hear who's really gay or Bi. Cary Grant, Errol Flynn, Raymond Burr, Clark Gable. Now you can all foam at the mouth in indignation. Add Kevin Spacey, Oprah, Jillian Barberie, and Martha Stewart to the list.
