Let me tell you why that can't happen... God made promises to mankind. If they would have faith in Him, He would bring them to Himself. God wouldn't be God anymore if His promises were lies... Jim

Yes it's a foolish question, if you understand what it means to be a Christian. I answered a similar question the other day, but had my answer deleted because the asker was uninformed about the Bible, and didn't feel it valid. When you are a Christian you are "sealed" by God, and couldn't go to hell even if you wanted to. When the apostle Paul said he wished for the sake of his brethren that he could be cursed in their places, he knew he was praying a VERY safe prayer, because of the impossibility of what he was asking....not that he was any less grieved at their fate, but he KNEW where his destiny was, as do all children of God.

What kind of god would take you to heaven knowing that you would constantly be worrying about your family? Does that sound like heaven to you? Only an idiotic and malicious god would do something like that. It is a foolish question, we are all given unlimited opportunities to reach enlightenment, that way we don't have to worry about our loved ones being in hell. Doesn't that remain consistent with an loving, forgiving and compassionate god? This is why I dislike religion, god can be defined negatively by refuting false ideas of him/her/it. Stop thinking you know how god thinks, no one has any idea.

What an interesting and thought provoking question! I suppose, if it were something that might obtain, then I'd go, since it's as if He were inviting me personally. But then it seems as if he had already gone through the judgment process with my family, friends, etc, and singled me out for an incredible honor, despite His promise to Judge All of us on our merits. But to answer your question as if it could happen, I wouldn't martyr myself if selected for such an honor by Jesus Himself! He must have a Heavenly Plan for me to have tasked me with such a sacrifice.
In another sense, in terms of what I know of these things, no one goes to Hell whom has had a loving relationship with Jesus, and second chances are given during the waiting period between death and the Judgement day. Also, there is no Hell, really. Hell is a metaphor for the despair and torment that we encounter during our lives on earth. This despair, or living Hell, is where we might be eternally if we do not accept the love and saving grace of Jesus Christ. There is no fire-skinned, large-horned, pitchfork wielding creature poking at us for being bad. We do this better than any imagined fork-tongued critter from some imagined underworld. (Note: there IS a difference between The Antichrist and the devil!) Lucifer was cast into Perdition, a Lake Of Fire, but this isn't Hell. My friends and loved ones are safe from that eventuality for they have accepted jesus as their Savior, as have I.
Thank you for this Question, and Bless You!

Finally a good question!!!!!! NoVolgarity!!!
If God would come to me and ask that question I sure would ask him why should my love ones burn in hell for eternity. However, I know that God would ask this only to see if I woudl sacrifice my life for others. There would not be heaven for me if I had all the love ones in hell and I know that he would not ask me to suffer while in heaven. Keep asking questions like this!!!!!!

I am well aware that some of my family and friends have not chosen to be Christians, but I still choose to put my faith in Jesus Christ. Nearly everyone in the civilized world knows about Jesus and, as much as I wish I could snap my fingers and cause them to accept Him, I can't. The best I can do is witness to them and pray for them, and thank God that I am going to be with Him in eternity. The Bible says that laying down your life for your fellow man is wonderful, but there's nothing in the Bible about going to Hell for them.

Well if God said that's how it's going to be, I'm not sure I'd have a choice in the matter. I love my family with all my heart, but in the end, we are individually responsible for getting to heaven. I'd do it for them if I could, but I can't. You can't force a person to choose their beliefs - you'll only end up pushing them farther away.

I would go to heaven. Each individual must be accountible for their actions. It would be unfortunate, but this life is just a drop in the bucket compared to what exists beyond. So, I will enjoy whatever I have with my family in this life and hope for the best.

to quote Paul, "to live is Christ and to die gain."
Assuming that you are asking would I rather be in hell with my family or in heaven without them. Well in heaven. I love my family but I love Christ more. C.S. Lewis addressed this problem in "The Great Divorce." He talks of a women who had witnessed to everyone she met it seemed. Her husband never chose to accept the faith. And she was not sad in heaven about it. And here is why. For hell to affect heaven in a negative way, in anyway, is inconceivable. Heaven is so far beyond anything we can imagine. Hell or those in it, have no control in or over those in Heaven.

Well, thanks to the fact I'm a Christian I will never have to make that decision. My entire family, along with my boyfriend and his family, are all Christians. So I will never have to make that choice. The only people that are going to be burning in hell are the people that didn't believe on Christ as their savior, and I feel bad for them, but that was their choice. <><

Well, I don't believe in burning for eternity. But if it wasn't time for my friends and family to move on, then there must still be some lessons for them to learn.
