She's a 7 month old springer spaniel, currently in heat. Her eye was fine before last night, when we suddenly noticed it. We don't know if she hurt her eye, or has an infection. Are there any ideas on what this could be, and what we can do for her? We'll be taking her to the vet later today if it doesn't improve soon. Thanks!

She may have scratched it on something. Its better to let the vet take a look at your puppy.
I'm glad to hear someone on here say they are going to take their dog to the vet. No need to allow an animal to suffer and sometimes things are more serious than we think. I hope not,but at least the puppy would get the help needed right away!!

GOOD LUCK!! I HOPE SHE FEELS BETTER SOON!

The blood shot, pus, and ligh sensitivity go along with conjunctivitis. This is an infection of the surface membrane of the eye. This would not cause "crossed-eye". But the eye may just appear crossed because of swelling and redness.

Take her to the vet, it sounds like a head injury. At least in humans a bloodshot crossed eye with pus is usually a head injury.

She most likely has an infection in her eye so the vet is a great idea. Hope the eye heals quickly!

I think your idea is a good one - wait till later, and take her to the vet if it doesn't improve. She probably just poked her eye on something.

I don't think my eyes were bloodshot but I definitely had a little bit of alcohol on my breath.

I would have her eye examined and treated by a veterinarian. Eyes in animals are extremely sensitive. Good Luck.

You should better take her to the vet, as my friend's dog hurt herself while scratching, and they had to operate her eye. She is now blind of 1 eye.
