Worrying is a habit that took time to make, and it's a habit that takes time to break. Every time you catch yourself worrying, fix your mind on something else. Keep doing that over and over again. You really have to re-wire your mind, so it takes time and effort. It may also help to read stuff that puts the right messages in your head. Check out Dale Carnegie's classic, "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living."

Another little trick is to journal. When you're worried about stuff, put it all down on paper. Once it's on paper, you might feel like you can let it go, and put that mental energy towards something else.
The best answer, though, in my honest opinion, is meditation or yoga. I've been practicing Buddhist meditation for quite a few years now, and it has helped me beyond belief. Being in the here and now is really a discipline that needs to be worked at daily. Good luck!

Worrying does not count as an activity. Planning does, however, and is a very good substitute for worry. When you get to "poor me" position, it's time to focus on what you want to do to improve your odds. Do you worry about money? Then take the positive step of looking for -- even writing down -- ways you can save money. If there are also ways you can earn more without compromising your moral values, then you can think about that, too, and plan how to achieve it.
Whatever it is you are worrying about, you need to substitute real sensible analysis of the problem and possible solutions.

I feel yoga is the best answer. Learn to control yourself with yoga. If you hate yoga then try aikido, judo or another martial art. I know it sounds weird, but you can get the skill of having peace in your mind by learning the meditation-related practices in these activities. Good luck. Take one today.
