First, a basement is a realyy bad place for the mom and especially puppies. It's often a bit damp, but also chilly and young pups get coldf very fast. If you're putting her in the basement, you'll need to suspend a heat lamp over the whelping box - high enough not to be able to burn, but low enough to provide some warmth.
The whelping box for a dog the size of a boxer woul ideally be at least 3 feet square, high enough the puppies can't get out when they're 3 - 5 or more weeks old, but low enough the mom can safelt get in. It should have a guard rail built a couple of inches from the ground all the way around to prevent the mom from squashing any pups who get behind her.
Then you needs layers and layers of newspaper which will have to be changed frequently when she's whelping, then a couple of times a day.
When she's ready to whelp, have towels, scissors and thread handy. Stay close in case she wants or needs your help. Before she starts whelping, her temp. will drop, she won't eat and will be very restless. Some moms want your help dring the pups, making sure mouths and noses are clear, and I don't let mine do the umbilical cord because the moms can get pretty rough. Also, not good to let her eat more than a couple of placenta because she'll get the runs.
Good luck!

you want to make sure the basement is where she wants to have them. most female will go through their "nesting" phase. this will happen anywhere from 1 week to a couple days before labor. she will pick a safe place to have them. sometimes it may not be where we want them to go (like your closet like mine did!) be sure you have your vets # available just in case you need to call. keep a few old towels around. lady may need help birthing if it is a large litter. mine was really tired after the seventh pup. dont worry. most dogs automatically know what to do. if she needs your help you will know. try to make sure she cleans all of the afterbirth from the pups face. this is really important. if she doesnt the pups will suffocate. as far as what to build for her and her pups.... you can lay an old comforter down for her. make sure you dont need it anymore because you will have to throw it away. you being there for her will be the most comforting for her. just pet her and tell her she is a very good girl and everything is going to be alright. this is what i did for nala marie, my 7 year old pit bull. she had 9 healthy puppies! hope this help. GOOD LUCK

You should have a whelping box but a small kiddie waiding pool can be a subsitute. Put blankets and old towles in it and she can have the pups in it anf then you can clean the bedding material.
Then you can leave the pups in it she can get in and out and the pups will not be able to move off.
It sounds like you need to get alot more information about having pups. I would strongly suggest you get a book about breeding and get reading fast.

Just make sure she and the pups will be plenty warm and get towels and enough room and be there for her to help her and that should be all. make sure you have some water near too.

look up "WHELPING BOX"
you will also need lots of blankets.. lots and lots.. because of course the pups will be peeing and pooping in their bed (umm ya the mom dog will eat their poop to keep it clean)
if you love your dog.. you will spay her in the future.. unspayed dogs have far more health risks and generally shorter life spans.
