Mary was actually at the cross, and Christ, as He hung there, asked one of His apostles to take care of her. If that is the case, then we must assume that Joseph was dead by then.

Joseph is not mentioned after Jesus was 12 years of age. Mary was there at her Son's crucifixion.
The last statement from Mary that is recorded in the Bible is from the wedding at Cana, referring to Jesus giving the servants a directive:
John 2:5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

You already have some good answers on this but I would like to address the answer that Sho-Nuff gave. Yes Mary had other children but they belonged to both Mary and Joseph. Matt chapter one clearly states that Joseph and Mary did not "know" each other UNTIL after the birth of Jesus.:
24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
I also want to point out that both Mary and Joseph had to find salvation through Jesus just as any of us have had to do.
There is only ONE name under heaven whereby we must be saved...and that is JESUS. If they had not trusted Jesus, they did not have salvation. His half brothers and sisters most likely became believers only after the Resurrection.

The Bible says that Mary was there but Joseph had probably already died as Jesus appointed one of his followers to watch after her.

Friend you can find in Mark 15:40 that Mary was standing at a distance & saw Jesus crucified, & there is also other verses, But in John 17:4 We see Jesus saying it is finished & also in John 19:30

Joseph wasn't mentioned as being there. Some assume he died, but no record saying he did. Mary was there, but there is no mention of her saying anything like his work is done.

Mary was there, but just like the other post mention, I think Joseph was presumed to be dead. I don't find anything about him at that time.

Mary is but Joseph has no such record. Tradition say that he dies while working on the temple some time after Jesus turned 12 years old... Jim
