It's for a philosophy class, so I just have to tie in how the event, or people involved in the event, are morally justified according to certain ethical frameworks, blah blah blah.

I just don't want to do something overdone like, abortion, or animal rights, gay marriage, etc.

There was recently a woman in London arrested for selling her kidney, that is illegal in most countries.
The organ trafficking issue isn't front and center but it does affect many people.
Just an idea.

How about the fact that OJ Simpson has a new book coming out. It would be different from what most people are writing about...but still interesting, current events, and debatable.

Or go to your local book store and just look through some true crime books. You could get a lot of ideas there.

You could research the genocide that is currently taking place in the Darfur region of the Sudan. it is very interesting, and unfortunate. you could tie it in to sociological ties between people and why it is happening.
