Yahoo's Java scripts do bad things to my computer, too. First, I would try going to system restore (in your security settings). Got back far enough so you can restore the system to before these problems.
You would probably benefit from a registry clean up and a defrag of your system. Defrag is in the Start, Accessories menu. For registry clean-up, I use Registry Mechanic, which is a free download. http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/
If your computer has not had its operating system reinstalled in the last year, this would be a good move. Over time, things just get corrupted. This is a lengthy process that have have detailed in Answers before.
Good luck.

My computers have done that, started and crashed. It's very frustrating and it's due to the hard drive in the machine. It may need repairs or even get a new computer. Your computer may have a viruse. Call someone who can check things out and repair it for you. You should turn your computer off at the end of the day. At night time, that's when its prone to hackers and viruses. I've done this now for two years and my computer is doing and holding up fine.
Good luck.

You may have a virus, or your power supply (inside the computer) could be over heating.
I would run a scan with an anti-virus program. If it isn't able to because it keeps shutting off, listen to see if you're computers fan is running. If it isn't, it could be the processor fan is not functioning properly, or the power supply fan isn't either. Both of these fans are needed to keep the computer cool and running. Make sure your computer is well ventilated too. It could just be getting too hot.
I wouldn't be too quick to reinstall windows just yet, sometimes that can cause you to loose stuff.

Sounds like overheating.
Open the machine and clean and check the inside, pay particular attention to the vents and fans.
