Hmm, I think the last part of your question got missing!
I think you meant: when you reverse the digits of the age of the father, you will get the age of the son. One year ago the age of the father was twice the age of the son last year.
The father is 73. Reversing the digits makes the son 37 this year. So last year, the father was 72, twice the age of his son who was then 36 years old.
72/2 = 36!
