Honey, after 4 years and countless rejects on a date, the man is clearly not wanting to marry you or anyone else. If you're living together, get your own place or put his a*ss out NOW! You allowed him to take advantage of you and be a convience for all of these years, now is the time to stop and get on with your life...with or without him. Move out (keep the ring, girl!), and tell him he has 6 months to make up his mind and set a date himself. If he doesn't come forward, and if you really love him, kick him to the curb immediately. Being away from you will either make him realize that he can't live without you, or he doesn't care enough to make a comittment. Why would you want a man who didn't want to be with you anyway? Think of yourself for a change..what do YOU want out of life! If getting married to his is this tough, think about how hard making decisions ina marriage with him will be. Again...KEEP THE RING EITHER WAY! God love you.

Chances are he will never set a date; How did you get engaged? did he ask you, or did you ask him, or did the two of you kinda agree that you would? Try asking him why he wants to wait longer, and when did he have in mind, because these things take a lot of planning, and arrangements must be made in advance, so the sooner you agree on a date the quicker you can begin your preparations. If this doesn't work I would think about giving him back his ring, and start dating again. I know you may love him but sometimes love doesn't conquer all, and a non-marriage minded man is one of them. Or maybe I'm all wrong, what is your age group, perhaps he thinks you are still too young, and the two of you need more time. But still 4 yrs is a long time, think about dating other people.

if he's putting it off that long maybe that's a sign for you, because if he really wanted to marry you he would be just as anxious as you are don't you think. But also if you all are acting like your married by living together and doing every thing a married couple does then there's no need for him to marry you because he's getting everything he wants now so why marry. Think about it!!
You know the saying "Why buy the cow, when you can get the milk for free?"

If you two have been engaged for 4 years and he is stalling on setting a real date then he needs to examine why he is engaged to marry you. He may enjoy all of the physical benefits of being married and therefore see no reason to commit more.

Do one of those trial brake up things, 4 years is a long time to be engaged otherwise try talking to the poor bloke like put a serious face on and talk some straight business cos he's fooling around with your life.Maybe it's commitment issues straighten things out.

Maybe he's just scared. I mean this is a big step for you both. Sit him down and talk to him. Tell him you really love him and want to marry him. It's ok for him to be scared but maybe you just need to give him a little push.

After 4 years it is time to sit him down and tell him to put up or shut up. But be prepared if he decides to hit the highway.

Don't do something smooth...Do something rash, like beat him in the head with a baseball bat. Maybe that'll knock some sense into him.
