Give her all the supports you can by encouraging and giving medical attention. You have not told what cancer she is having the stage and grade of the disease so that I could have suggested the possible medication and treatments. Any way act as per the advise of your Oncologist. The treatments generally are - surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy. The treatment side effects are more killing than the disease itself. What to do you have to fight the disease as -
CANCER IS STILL AN ENIGMA. Best wishes for speedy recovery of your friend.-

I'm sorry to hear of this. I was diagnosed with God willing a very treatable early stage of breast cancer. The people around me are very supportive such as friends, family, BF esp. Offer to take her out to lunch, to get some hot green tea at a coffe shop, go to a movie, etc. Something to get her out of the house. If she's not physically up to it, offer some meals, your good, positive company, to rent a movie or just sit & chat about old times. It will be a healing mechanism for both of you as long as kept on a very positive note. Just listen & be there, offer to drive to Dr.'s appts., chemo if necessary, so she's not alone if family isn't with her. Best Blessings!!

If I was in her position , all I would expect is to be treated normally , with respect and dignity . It cann't be easy to live with those prospects . Support her , encourage her , keep her positive and LOVE her . She is still a person regardless . Send her my love and support while you're at it . Brandon ( South Africa)

Just be the friend like you have always been. Treat her as if she would be healthy. If you want to make her laugh, go to a comic show with her.

Be normal with her, and don't "write her obituary" before she is dead. Also, don't be uncomfortable discussing death or her illness with her.
