I was reading throught the answers yesterday.

Some people say if you lift light weights with many reps, its pointless. That you will not see any results..

But what I heard that with light weights and more reps you get leaner/ripped/burn fat in the areas you train.

Am I right? What's really the truth here?

It depends on how light the weights are and what you're trying to accomplish. If you want to build mass, then it's kinda pointless. Light weights with many reps helps to tone the muscles, not to build muscles. Heavier weights with fewer reps help to build mass.That's why you see body builders curling with 150lbs, but they'll only do like 10 reps with that much weight. Both answers are true in a way, it just depends on what you want to accomplish.

It depends on what your goal is. Higher reps with less weight will give you tone. Higher weight with less reps will give you bulk. You can also do 3 sets of however many reps increasing the weight each set.

its pretty much useless for seeing results....just kidding

think about it more along the lines of how much effort is put into a program as there is NO PERFECT PROGRAM and look at it with this rule of thumb....do as many reps as you want, keeping good form and thinking that the last 2 reps should be fairly hard compared to the rest of them

if you want to "tone" the muscles you have you can use light weights with many weights AND sets..lol...

You burn fat because your exercising. period. You cant target weight loss.

If you want "new" musles growth you overload your muscles by using heavy weights and less reps and sets.
