Yes, Henna is very harmful for hair coz it dries your hair easily. But Henna is extremely useful for darkening your highlighted hair color. You should now visit a pharmacy and ask for some consultation from the pharmacist. See if they can help on you.

Henna is supposed to be very good for your hair. It should never make your hair dry. If it does you need to try a different product.
If the damage has already been done, you can use a moisturising shampoo to keep it from drying out.
When you use good quality Henna your hair won't get dry and brittle because henna bonds with each strand making it thicker and stronger.
Make sure you're using art quality henna for best results. And don't fall for the places that say you can get blonde shades with henna, it's not true.... henna is always red. Although, it can be used with other things like indigo for different colors.
Here's a fabulous site with tons of info on Henna for hair. It's were I get mine.

If henna dries out your hair, it probably isn't the best product for you to use. You need a hot oil treatment to moisturize and soothe your hair. You can get hot oil treatment capsules in any drugstore. Just massage it into the scalp and smear all over your hair, roots to tips - then wrap a plastic bag around it and leave it on for a while. For even better results, use your blow dryer while the plastic bag is on - the heat will make the treatment penetrate better for best results.

Henna is good for hair if you're using Body Art Quality henna. Many commercially available "henna" dyes contain a lot of mystery ingredients, which may be bad for hair. If you're using the good stuff, it'll make your hair thick, shiny, and healthy.
If whatever you're using now is making your hair dry, stop using it!
