My husband and all his friends were happy about the change in power and they are all active army. They jumped for joy when Rumsfield resigned.

The Democrat party has a horrible record of defending freedom and supporting the military.

Just remember the helicopters pulling people off of the roof of our Embassy in Saigon while the NVA tanks rolled into town in 1975.

After the US Army won every battle with the NVA and the NLF over the course of the war -- the Democrats cut the funding and prevented any help to ARVN.

Most of the career soldiers, who had spent every other year in Vietnam since 1965, had friends (or family) that were killed in the subsequent purges and 'reeducation' of the South Vietnamese. When the killing stopped, millions were dead in S. Vietnam and the neighboring communist Cambodia.

With friends like that, who needs enemies.

It doesn't matter what the military thinks, America spoke and asked for Dems to come into power. Besides that, I am deployed in Iraq right now and I couldn't be happier than Dems took power.

Dems don't cut pay. Every year pay is increased around 2%, doesn't matter if its Dems or Republicans in office.

I guess I don't count since I am a 'woman' in the military, but I am not upset at all about the election results. It has been the best news I have seen since I got orders to return from deployment.

I even celebrated with drinks!

It is mostly a lack of confidence. The Democratic party has created a huge political stake in ensuring that we lose in Iraq. (If we win the Democrats look bad.)

We also remember the 1990s where we had no military strategy whatsoever and instead flailed around blindly with cruise missiles and let Europe dictate to us when we were going to fight. (Which meant that our soldiers were dying for Europe's benefit and not ours.)

They are afraid of a rapid withdrawal from Iraq and losing face, as well as a trimming of the military budget

Because the dems don't think we need a military to protect us. So they cut the bases and the budget and then wonder what the hell happened when we get attacked. I'm upset too, I don't want to wake up one morning to find we are no longer free. Besides, do you want to defend your country for under $2.00 an hour??? (do the math)
A single soldier, no dependents, makes about $900 a month
Divide that by the days of the week he works (usually 6),and divide that by about 18 (hours worked in a day), unless he's in the war zone, then it's 20-24 hrs and add hazard pay of about $1,000. Still not enough for me to get shot at..........how about you? Let's support our troops better, they are giving up so much for us...........vote republican. (God, not Hillary)
Only the brave, who don't care about the money .

Democrats have historically been bad for the military. Alot of manning cuts and funds pulled.

Your question is invalid. I'm currently serving and deployed... many military men (and you forgot the military women) aren't upset for many reasons. Many people in the military are demomcrats (did you think we were all republicans?). Many people in the military feel that both parties are just in it to make money for themselves. Many aren't upset because they think the Democrats will get them out of some of the deployments. Again I'm not sure why you ask your question but it needs more research before asking.

because they know that a democratic congress will cut there pay raises, and will want to cut and run so that all they have done up to this point would have been for nothing
