I've heard that Haifa is the only Israeli city in which arabs and Jews live peacefully and are actually friends. Is this true?

they live "peacefully" because Israeli police forces them to. Arab is blatantly discriminated (as in public service etc, you know during Lebanon war arabs were not given rocket shelter where jews were) but they can't protest because they will be arrested by police and they will be accused as terrorists. That's why the situation remains "peaceful" despite the discrimination against arabs.
You may have never heard this before, because Israel gov't tries to censor this. Media are told not to tell this situation or they will be banned from going to Israel.

There are about 1/6 of the Israelis that are non Jews. All of them are regular citizens. Most of the time The Jews and the non-Jews live in peace with each other.
In Haifa as well as in other mixed cities, you can fill peace in the air. The Arabs and Jews go to the same Universities, and inside the two Universities in Haifa you can here Arabic spoken every were.
It may surprise you but some of the Israeli Arabs even serve in the Army!

There are many cities in Israel where Jews and Arabs live together peacefully. I've been to Haifa and everyone seemed to get along just fine.

Yes they do, but most arabs in Haifa are christians to the best of my knowledge. Does that make a difference? Who knows, I think it does.

There are other places where Jews and Arabs live in peace. The problem starts with the fanatics (on both sides, I must say...); If it wasn't for them, we'd all be living in peace...

it's not the only one - try Tel Aviv Yafo (Jaffa), Ramle, Lod, Jerusalem. we want peace with each other. Amen may it be in our lifetime
