You could try starting out by meditating for only a few minutes and working your way up. Or play some light music to help you stay focused. I like to picture a flame in my mind when I start to lose focus and that normally helps me regain it.

Meditate for short periods; don't try to take on too much. Boredom defeats the purpose. If you become bored, stop and go do something you enjoy; do it for a little while, then come back and meditate again.

It might help if you work on your visualization skills; finding how much you can see in your mind, how clearly you can focus on an object, or a place you have been (or have never been.) Also, meditation need not necessarily be just sitting and being still...an action you enjoy, walking, or painting, or writing...anything that inspires you, can be a form of meditation. Bring joy into it.

If you get bored, you're not focusing enough. You need to start with exercises that clear your mind of everything, then slowly bring it into focus.

My favorite technique is to sit/lay down, and slowly, from your toes up, relax each part of your body until you're in a state of complete calm. Once my body is silent, I call into focus a place that I'm most comfortable in. I set every detail, every smell, every sight, and then I focus on one thing within it. Say, on an open book. Or on a TV screen. Then see what plays out from there.

It does take a lot of practice. It'll take a bit before you get the discipline to focus yourself, but don't get discouraged, and don't give up!

First you must find a good teacher. There are many types of meditations, which one are practising? In vipasanna meditation, you observed your mind. When the mind is bored, you must note it.How?Since you know that you are feeling bore, just repeat to yourself,boring.boring,boring.Then go back to the subject of your meditation. If the feeling comes back repeat it or you could change the noting to knowing, knowing, knowing.By knowing that you are bored you have already observed your mind!Happy meditation.

The best way is to create a surrounding that helps you to focus and relax. Try burning a sented candle, and maybe some of that groovy natural forest sounds or pan-pipe music. Peace
