The most obvious symptom is intense abdominal pain that increases from a few minutes to hours. A person may also experience back pain, nausea or vomiting. One way to decrease pain (but no by much, and not a sure way) is to drink water once the pain starts. Other symptoms include, bloating, gas and indigestion. If these symptoms go untreated they may cause death. Usually attacks occur at night and often after eating a very fatty meal. However, not all gallstones are painful and need treatment. Gallstones known as "silent stones" present no symptoms and do not pose a danger to the gallbladder and do not need treatment.

A stone blocking the opening from the gallbladder or cystic duct usually produces symptoms of biliary colic, which is right upper abdominal pain that feels like cramping. If the stone does not pass into the duodenum, but continues to block the cystic duct, acute cholecystitis results.
The main symptom of cholecystitis is abdominal pain -- particularly after a fatty meal -- that is located on the upper right side of the abdomen. Occasionally, nausea and vomiting or fever may occur.
Other symptoms are Chronic indigestion, Vague abdominal pain,
Nausea and Belching.
Please see the webpages for more details on Gall stones, Cholecystitis, Acute cholecystitis and Chronic cholecystitis.

Severe pain in your right side. Vomiting and diarreah. Usually after you've eaten really fatty foods. If it's really bad, go to the ER. If it's mild...call your doc.
