Do you realize Satan was once the God Set? Which is the God of natural instincts? Now perverted to a horned dude w/ a pitch fork, just like celtic women now are green broom riders?

Set was an Egyptian God, that has more to do with Paganism than Satanism.
Generally modern Satanism is a free-form religion or philosophy similar to humanism, a belief in yourself as your own God.

Adherents of modern Satanism are usually children of strict Christian upbringing who want to rebel against their parents and seem like really bad dudes.

Yeah man! that is a really cool pentagram!

Christianity has adopted many ideas from Roman pagan religions. It's very possible that the image of Satan comes from that of the Greek god "Pan", the goat-man, ruler of the natural instincts, sexuality and nature. Likewise, Christmas derives from an old Roman ritual called Saturnalia.

Seth, however, was the Ancient Egyptian god of Darkness and War, and has little relation to modern christianity.
Your ideas are right, but you seem a bit confused about history and mythology. Try opening an encyclopedia.

You're right, he was. He was the highest of the angels, and then he became wicked, so God sent him to the earth. This happened sometime between the creation of earth and the creation of Mankind. It was a busy week for God.

As far as my opinion of satan worship? I'm not a big fan, Jesus is my guy.

Actually steph, many believe that once the 3rd Jewish temple is built in Jerusalem that animal sacrifice will resume among the most concervative Jews. They don't have the atoning sacrifice of Jesus like us.

In a nutshell, Satanism is a modern religious-type belief centered around, to use the Freudian term, the id. It chose as its deity the figure known as Satan, which over the years has become a mishmash of religious symbols that the Christian Church "demonized" in order to get people away from these religions and into the fold of Christianity. Though most of the people who claim to be Satanists are independent weirdos that do the stupid things like killing black cats and other assorted nonsense, there are many who adhere to the philosophies of Anton LaVey, author of "The Satanic Bible", and one of the more interesting figures of 20th Century America. His philosophy espoused the "self" as the center of everything, that your desires, wants and fantasies should all be fulfilled, and that you should deny yourself nothing.

Honestly I have not given it much thought. I understand satanism to simply be based on the foundation of self. In other words I suppose do as you pleaseism. Which is fine if it works for the satanist. Everyone is entitled to choose the religion they like. People spend more time worrying about what other people are doing in their homes or beds and whatever than they do worrying about if they are doing the right things in their own.

Most Satanists I've met have been rebelious teens who think it's cool to pretend to pray to the Lord of Lies. They grow out of it. I"ve only met one person who followed what I truly think a Satanist was. If he had a problem, he'd make a blood offering to demons to get rid of it. Killing living things to get what you want (not a holy sacrifice which, by the way is no longer practiced in any religion) is evil.

Oh, and if you're talking about the stereotypical witch, most of the green skin stuff came from the Wizard of Oz, and the Wicked Witch of the WEst wasn't Celtic.

satan has a confued and potted history, appearing in the bible first of all as an okay bloke (Job) and only later becoming an adversary. The serpent isn't necessarily satan. It only came to a (horned) head with the middle ages and then Paradise Lost.

If my memory serves me right, Seth is an Egyptian god who was also the brother of Osiris. He killed him so that he could rule over the earth. Horus killed Seth to avenge his father's death and Isis brought Osiris' spirit back to life where he soon became the King and ruler of the underworld.
Please tell me where is the proof that Seth and Satan are one in the same. As i also recall Lucifer is the most handsome angel that God created and he is also the angel of all music so please state your facts.
I agree that they have distorted the devils image but come onnn where is the proof.

Excuse me for a minor correction to your statement. Satan was NEVER the God Set...God, the father of Jesus Christ, is the only God Set. Satan was once one of the arch angels, the highest form of heavenly angel, before his fall from grace with God. He wanted power over everything, and his name at the time was Lucifer. If you want to be damned for eternity to the lake of fire in Hell, believe in Satanism...that's where you'll be. To quote John 3:16, The Ryrie Study Bible,: "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten (the only one he had) Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." I hope you'll give some thought to that verse for your life hereafter. Jesus loves you and would love to live in your heart to assure you a place in Heaven.
