...............you're unmarried and enjoying a healthy sex life with someone you genuinely care about and respect that you are the Devil's spawn and that your immoral behaviour will see you burn in Hell for eternity?

Are they justified in thinking this or just plain ignorant?

You're a brave man.. they will burn you just for asking "why do Americans.... insert anything here"
I'm not touching this one with a barge pole but i do suggest you ask it over in religion.. that would be good for a laugh

I don't know that it's simply Americans that you're talking about. You must be the talking about the Christians that need to keep their noses out of other people's business. The ones that spend all their time pointing out every little thing that is a sin when they really need to stop & reevaluate themselves. Now I'm not saying Christians in general. I'm a Christian. But I know a couple of them that do this & everyone else can't stand to be around them because they are so cruel & hateful.

Everyone has their own opinion on this matter. I think if 2 mature adults make a decision to be together sexually then it's fine and consentual. I just have a problem with people having unprotected sex and then being shocked when they end up pregnant. If you choose to have sex you should be prepared for the consequences that may follow.

In reply to the above two posters:

1) We're talking about extra-marital sex, not adultery. (Extra-marital sex is where you have sex before marriage, not where you have sex with someone else's partner.)

2) The Bible also says that menstruating women are unclean and should be shunned, and that it's immoral to eat anything but unleavened bread during Passover. The Bible says a lot of things.

I don't think so as i know that a lot of Americans are at liberty to do whatever they want sexually. Its funny how they do the most weird things like doing it with animals, gay marriage laws, anal, porn and what aview and yet come on TV shows and Yahoo answers and be all holy and stuff. But search within your mind...i'm sure you'll find some answers.

And please don't blaspheme against the Bible. There is surely hell fire. Now its left or you to accept God or not and not going around blabbing what you don't know (1st answerer).

Wow, the world is very judgemental!
Religion has its boundaries and what you describe falls outside of many religion's limits. It isn't just Americans.
Justified versus ignorant? Big judgement that I am not prepared to make. Do they ask the same about you? Probably.
Should you or they condemn someone for their beliefs whether you agree with them or not?
Tongue in cheek here - they do have God on their side!

It is not Americans that are ignorant, per ce, it is just that there is a large coincidence of Catholics in the United States... and so, they are ignorant by default.

I totally understand what you mean though. As a nation, they deliver a contraditory message as a society concerned with moral well-being and a "gog-fearing" president, yet they produce 80% of porn worldwide, sexy advertisements and open sexual discussion.

That would be a very small portion of the American population. Most people don't think that. Most people around the world have a warped view of Americans because of our media and politicians.

Probably because of their religious background! Some people can't think outside the box, so they stay inside the box and let other people feed them!

It's because the Bible clearly states that fornication,, (sex out of marriage) is a sin. Everybody is a sinner or has sinned so all are condemned by the law, but salvation is through grace, which bypasses the law,, but sin is sin,, and aught to be avoided,, if at all possible.
btw,, adultery is sex with someone who is married that you are not married to,, unmarried sex is called fornication. the bible says If a young man lies with a maid as a man lies with his wife, he shall surely marry her. I paraphrase, not the EXACT quote,, but very close. Their is your direction. It is a sin. stop it.
