Maybe, but what if it is true and when the time comes and I am standing before Him, I can just hear myself stumbling over my words, like a child who was caught stealing a candy bar. I'd rather not take the chance. Also, even if He is only a made up story, the thought that someone loves me no matter what and will forgive me for my stupid decisions is a comfort when the people who claim to love you can't find the same strength. Admit it, there must have been times when after an awful day, as you lay down, didn't it cross your mind to say to Him, Thank you God for getting me through all this? Like Santa resting his finger on the side of his nose, then winking, didn't you sleep a more restful sleep after reading the same old story one more time? Maybe, just maybe that feeling of comfort was God telling you sleep well and God Bless!

Dear Dark,
As one responder already said How can anyone in their right mind NOT believe in Jesus?
Not just the mind is involved. It starts in the heart.
I was not in my right mind until Jesus came into my heart.
I can agree with you on santa clause being a fairytale.
Jesus however IS and He came to do what mankind, no matter how good they might be, cannot do for itself.
We are sinners but while we were yet dead in our sins, Christ died for the ungodly. That is awesome if you will allow yourself to think that through to its logical conclusion.
Jesus came to save that which was lost, not to keep a list of good and bad.

Many legends and even fairytales are based on a true story. I myself believe that there was a Jesus figure about two thousand years ago, though maybe he wasn't the person he is shown to be in the Bible. But why could there not have been a man that spoke to the people and talked about God? There is no proof that he existed, of course, but there is no proof that he didn't exist either.
I don't think it's stupid to believe. Period.

Thank you! I don't have an issue with Jesus, per se, he may very well have been a real man who did good during his lifetime. But "God"? Sorry, the idea of a "higher being" is ridiculous. The universe can be explained with science. Who doesn't believe in evolution? We have evidence to the fact. I think that God and religion were created in order to try to explain the unknown things in the world back in ancient times that today can be explained with science.

I read all the answers.
The biggest argument is the fact that Christians believe Jesus is G-d. Others do not.
I believe in G-d---------------------there has to be a reason we are here (and someone, or something, had to start the whole process of life and evolution).
But, to say Jesus is G-d-------is a very big stretch of the imagination. G-d is One.

Who in there right mind couldn't?
It is written in the oldest and most circulated book the world has ever seen. Now....on believeing his teachings or miracles???That's all up to the individual. There are plenty of people that are "in their right mind" who do believe the word as it is written.
...and what are you talking about??? Santa is real:)

now you know santa clause is not real. correct!
what has got you thinking that Jesus is not real.
Jesus is real as the sun is. Jesus is real as the moon is.
Just think about it. don't let anyone trick you. just read the Bible and see what happens. OK!

LORD JESUS came to earth to show the way to the lost mankind, heal the afflicted and lay the foundation for what mankind's nature and actions should be. the entire western civilization's learning and becoming is rooted in the wisdom of LORD CHRIST,which is found in the Holy Bible. it would be a show of highest form of foolishness, stupidity and arrogance to not acknowledge THE ONE who lived HIS entire life for the benefit and upliftment of suffering and astray humanity of his times and and time to come. such an exemplary life is unheard of and hard to find on this earth. thank God, we have somebody we can depend on and show us the way in this frightening and unforgiving world.

They can't... but I've got a better question:
What do YOU believe in?
What do you use to comfort yourself at night when you are left alone to your thoughts? What selectivity do you show in your thoughts because society tells you that certain realisations are "not healthy"?
There is a hole waiting for you... in your future.
The end of your lifeline... out of this world... and broken off into the nothingness... Not just your body, but everything you ever meant, felt, stood for... as transient as morning frost...
Judge yourself before you start judging others.... and try being a bit smarter about it.
