Well my friend is christian and wanting to learn more about Islam and I think she has a full advantage to have me to talk with her and give her info. She does read the Koran but she is bombarded with soo much information, it's hard for her. Maybe some websites, (like the ones above might help) search in google too.

First step to become a Muslim is to admit "There's only one God" and it's similar to first commandment. And you must admit total obedience to God, This is the first part of Azan (call to prayer) that you can hear in all mosques 3 or 5 times a day. I'd suggest http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam as a good source to start with.

Well, I have read Quran and I am catholic.
It is not the big deal, what I know about their faith but:
Quran is their holy book and equals what we think of our Bible. By the way, they call us and Jews "people of the Book"
The Shahada (I believe and testify there is no other god to be worshipped than Allah and that Muhammad is his prophet) equals our Creed (I believe in Father Almighty, creator of Heaven and earth...) as an expression of their faith.
They believe their destiny is already defined, written in the book or their lives and it has to be accomplished.
When their priest (imam) calls for prayer, he doesn't sound bells but he does it with a song.

I personally like www.islamonline.net since it covers almost every aspect of Muslim life, from Islamic to cultural things. Also reports the news from a Muslim viewpoint (ie the things we don't get to hear about in the west).
Also take the time to look into www.sunnah.org
I know it is a bit on the Sufi side, but it is still very informative.

the problem is you, why you are finding the faith of muslim if you are a catholic. the best thing you do is to focus where you believe, but if thats your decision to learn about muslim faith its up to you. try to research or ask especially to the muslim people thats the easy way.
