On the internet, log onto Doctors Foster & Smith - you can order their catalog or order from then online. They deliver right away and the prices are excellent, and you can also trust them as they are vets themselves.

If you look up natural ear mite remedies you will get your answer.
There is some remedies that are over the counter so check a really good pet store. Keep the ears clean .Ear mites can be killed by drowning them in just alittle olive oil, mineral oil or vegtable oil.But these can take up to a month for all the mites to die. Look up web site or ask your vet maybe he knows one.or maybe you can make an arrangment with you vet.

I have used a dot of mineral oil on a cotton square with good results in the past.
I like the other toon's answer of using neosporin.
I use the cotton square (sold in the cosmetic section of my grocery store) because unlike a cotton swab, you can't poke the kitties ear which may hurt him.
I thought my kitten had ear mites, but, the vet told me it's an allergy and put him on antihistamines.
Wish you had said what your kitten had surgery for. I hope he is well and healthy now.
Good Luck

Well, I never thought about the neosporine, thats a good idea, but I have used Wesson cooking oil. My cat hates me afterwards, but I put a small amount on a cotton ball, and massage the inside of his ear. After doing this, take a dry cotton ball and make sure you get the extra oil out. If you leave the ear moist it could cause other infections like a yeast infection.

go back to the vet, and ask to purchase a bottle of ear mite meds. They will just let you buy it, and won't charge an office visit.

I know you don't wanna hear this but all that over the counter stuff doesn't work. Call the vet and ask if he will sell you something called Revolution. It kills every parasite in or on a cat in one application. It is worth every penny. You don't even put it in the cat's ears. You put it between her shoulder blades. It sinks thru the skin and kills bugs dead.
I would not have believed it myself had I not seen it work miracles on my own cat. She didn' even know she was getting medicine. She thought she was being petted,

Mineral oil on q-tips - don't shove the q-tip in to the ear, just roll around some of the oil on the black spots, and they should come off.

I use neosporin on my cats ears. It smothers the ear mites, and heals at the same time.
