Yes.

At the Last Supper, Jesus said, “Take this bread. It is my body.” Then he said, “Take this and drink. This is my blood. Do this in memory of me.”

Catholics believe this was the First Eucharist, that through some miracle the bread and wine actually became the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

Catholics reenact the Last Supper during every Mass, where God, acting through the priest, changes the bread and wine into the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

This is a great sacrament of thanksgiving and unity of Catholics.

With love in Christ.

Hi Micah, as a Catholic I believe that communion is important in both aspects, the first aspect is Christians coming together as one body to worship the Lord and this is being in communion , also the Catholic communion where we receive the body and blood of Christ in holy communion(Eucharist)

More than just important. It is essential. Jesus gave few commandments. One was: Go, teach and Baptize.."

The other was: "Do this, in remembrance of me"

That's pretty clear, from Scripture and in the life of the Body, the Church.

Also, the Greek word translated as "remembrance" is "anamnesis" - which means much more that "remembering" - it's a specific Greek term taken from philosophy that means "to call forward through time to make really present in the here and now"...

It is in the Holy Communion that the Christian is fed and nourished. His blessed Passion and precious Death, His mighty Resurrection and glorious Ascension...all are a part of the most Holy and Blessed Sacrament...

This we do, and each time we do it "to show forth (Christ's Death) until He comes (again) (1 Cor. 11:26)

Aside from the religious dogma attached to communion (i.e. transubstantiation versus consubstantiation), yes, I do believe it's important. In most Churches, it's the only way we celebrate the Lord's Supper, which is a Commandment (Luke 22:19).

Peace.

EDIT: "Iknowtruthismine," you've assumed all Christians believe in transubstantiation (the Catholic concept of communion). Most Protestant Christians instead believe in consubstantiation. Look into the definition of consubstantiation and you'll have greater understanding of this issue.

Suzanne makes a good point. Yes, communion is important. We are doing this to remember Jesus.

I do. I look forward to it when I'm at church. I'm actually upset at myself because I missed mass and, according to the Catholic faith, cannot accept communion until I go to confession. I"m doing that today because I hate missing communion. To me, it's like walking out of a movie and never seeing the climactic ending. It's very important to me.

Mav doens't know if it's important to God, but it is important to Mav. It is a spiritual ritual that can only take place once Mav searches her heart, gains forgiveness, and forgives others.

Mav has been known to not take communion because her heart was not where it should be.

Partaking of the emblems at the yearly celebration of the Lord's Evening Meal is very important for annointed Christians (the 144,000 who will rule with Christ) but should not be done by any others as it would be considered as doing so unworthily according to the scriptures.

Communion is a sick, twisted form of idolatry where you symbolically consume the body and drink the blood of your dead god in a cannibalistic inspired ritual meant to make you one with the dead god. Totally sick practice that shows how depraved delusionalism can become if left unchecked.
