Mary, who is a virgin gets pregnant. Joseph returns home from a 7 month long trip and discovers this shame. Mary comes up with an excuse, like the Son of God is in her. Joesph almost buys the story, but goes along with it anyhow and they move to a town called Bethlehem to avoid local shunning.

Bethlehem at the time was small and boring, so any news (far fetched) was interresting. The entire town buys the Son of God story. From that point on, Jesus is convinced to be the "son of God" for 30 years, until he makes an appearance with all of this great wisdom, which is where the bible picks up his great stories..

Cover up for Mary getting raped by a Roman guard. Spiraled out of control from there and now look at the legend.

Cute story.

However, I just plain believe that Mary was raped by possibly a Roman soldier (as was often happening then), and Joseph was a good man, so married her anyway.

The Virgin birth concept was mistranslated from the Hebrew/
Aramaic--------it really meant ''young woman''-married or not, virgin or not.

The Son of G-d concept did not come till Paul and disciples made it all up years later. Jesus preached Judaism, and how people had left the true following of it. There were many false Messiahs, and I am not sure that he really thought he was the Messiah. He would have been a heretic if he was saying he was the son of G-d. Jewish concept is, was, and always will be, ''G-d is One''. The Messiah is not to be holy---just a good man with the ability to lead.

Jesus was a good man, a teacher-----------but, just a man. And, he did not fulfill the prophecy of the Messiah.

If a million people told you the bridge was out, would you drive ahead anyway? Without regard to their witness?

Multiple millions have had supernatural experiences. Millions upon millions have felt the presence of God, witnessed Christ's power and talk to God and God talks back. Yes, as in God is real and a person.

The real question is, why do seemingly intelligent people lack the ability to conceive of a higher mind at work? The Creator?

Why do some come to the knowledge of God, while others are quick to discard it all as tom foolery?

If the next world is reward or punishment, then this life is a test. Are you failing that test?
