It does not take believing in Jesus to be saved. You have to accept him as your saviour. I am assuming that you feel that a mentally disabled person would not be able to do this. Whether they can or can't I do not know. But I do believe this. Anyone who is not able to make a decision for Christ, such as a young child or maybe a mentally disabled person; is accepted into God's kingdom.

Since we are judged by our hearts, a mentally disabled person will be judged accordingly. A mentally disabled person is like a child (severe cases) and children have instant access to God and His kingdom - they go straight to heaven when they die. Therefore, a mentally disabled person (severe, like a child) will go straight to heaven too my friend. They are blessed in these circumstances and face an eternity of everlasting peace and joy and mental clarity.

God knows what the mentally disabled are going through far better than we do. God has a special place with them and protects them. He also knows who truly is mentally disabled and not.

A mentally disabled person can hear the gospel and be saved because the Holy Spirit can circumvent their minds and work in their spirits to lead them to believe in their spirits that Jesus is their Savior and Lord. It is the Holy Spirit who works in us to will and to do. God primarily sees our spirits to know whether we would believe in Him. Our natural minds are not acceptable to God in this first place that is why we are called by God to renew our minds to put on the mind of Christ. Another way is Jesus can appear before them and they can call on the name of Jesus and be saved like Saul on the road to Damacus.

This idea is used as a substitute for following the true teachings of Jesus. Many find it too difficult to judge not, love their neighbors and love their enemy's, so they came up with the idea that just believing in Jesus was enough.
Jesus could care less if we believe in him or the Easter bunny. He wants us to follow his example and his teachings. I think there are going to be some very surprised Christians when they see who actually made it to heaven.
Love and blessings Don

What about them? So you think God isn't smart enough to know if someone is capable of understanding the concept? Use just a little common snese for heaven's sake.
