Hi, I have an out-door cat and I've noticed that when he's retching the hairballs, he doesn't spit it out and swallows it back instead. Should I be worried about it? Sorry for poor English, thanks.

Not every hairball has to be spit out. Your cat probably does not swallow that much hair since much of the loose hair falls off outside. Therefor, a little bit of retching gets the hairball to move and then slide down into your cat's stomach.

There is nothing to worry about.

By the way, your English is very good.

Take care,
Troy

Just go out any buy Friskies Hairball treats. They are excellent for cats - I give them to my own. Read the back as to how many you can give (depending on the weight of the cat) and within one day your cat will not be retching trying to get the hairballs out. They come in chicken flavor and the cats just love it.

Is he eating & drinkin & keeping it down? My cat retched for days & when I brought him to the vet, there was a string wrapped around his tongue. The vet said it was a very common problem! I would look to see. If that's not the problem, try giving him petrolium jelly every day. That will help it slide up. Put it on his paw & he'll have to clean it off. If he somehow gets around eating that, buy the hairball stuff from the store , but you have to give it every day. The paw thing should work, though!!

Mine does the same to some degree.
Hairballs are from the knots they are trying to get out of themselves.
Try the hairball remedy available at pet stores or even the vet's office has a top notch brand that should help.
Mine has this issue and he loves the furball stuff.
Does the cat eat grass? You can buy the indoor grass seed for cats for their digestion system.
Talk to your vet or contact a local website that deals specifically with cats.
Good luck.

call the nearest zoo and ask a tom cat keeper if the lions, tigers, leopards they have there cough up hairballs. are you able to wager what the answer will be????? Cats evidently have a raw meat weight-relief plan (zoo cats do). once you feed your cat nutrients it fairly is two/3 corn the digestive juices in its abdomen has to dissolve the hair ingested and the irrelevant grain it fairly is the major area of its weight-relief plan. it can't take care of it. All pussycats of in spite of species are very compulsive groomers. On a "organic" weight-relief plan of meat the tummy acids look after the hair the cat ingests from grooming and there are not any "hairballs". My cats all eat a weight-relief plan of almost one hundred% meat. None of them ever throws up a hairball.
