my friend has a persian that is really really anti social. it is boring and whevever she plays with it, it justs gives her the look 'are you kidding me? you catch it.' and it walks off. it dosent like being held and only wants to ****, eat and sleep. she got it fixed when it was six months old. i have a two month old kitten, and i am wondering if my kitten will be like that if i get it fixed. this worries be because cats dont have the voice to speak. and if someone didnt ask my permission and just took away my ovaries, i would be having menapause! do cats have menapause? will my kitten feel deepressed because it has no more hormones?? and if so, how would you know? you certainly cant talk to cats. note: my kitten is house based. i live in an apartment,so really, there is no risk of her getting pregnant. im only fixing her for my selfish ways so she wont annoy me with her horny ways. an i doing the right thing? i wished my kiten could speak. =(

if you don't get your cat fixed, it will call (if it is female and it is very loud and lasts for ages) and will spray around the house (if it is male).

Persians are known to be anti social and remember, all cats are different.

No, every Persian cat I have ever met is like that - it is the breed's general personality. Spaying did not cause or effect this.

Believe me - your cat WILL find a way to get out if you don't have it spayed. And there is nothing more annoying than a cat in heat - they meow, wail, practically scream - mostly at night when you are trying to sleep. It goes on for weeks, may pause for a few days, but starts again shortly - unless they are bred, fixed, or autumn comes - but will start up again in late winter/early spring. Having your cat spayed will avert this - and give her all the health benefits (no mammary cancer the most important). She will be the same cat.

Since she is approaching adulthood, she will become a little more cat-like and less kitten-like with time, anyway. But no 'Persian' cattitude is going to suddenly to pop up - - because she is not a Persian! So, you can do the right & responsible thing without worry. Good luck.

Persians are by nature not the nicest of cats.
Mine is 13 years old and for the firs eight years of his life he was snooty and a loner. Now he is just plain crochety!
We had other cats that he just totally ignored at best and snubbed.
Not all cats are nice cats. My vet says the nicest cats in general are orange Tabbies. We have a new kitten orange tabbie, and he is the nicest, most social, smartest cat I have ever had. I highly recommend this type of cat. I would NEVER get another Persian again,,,they are too uptight for me.
Good luck

I doubt that your friend's cat was made this way by being fixed. Some cats are very laid back and treat humans as not worth the time of day. Have your kitty spayed. She will not have any more fun being in heat than you will. It's an awful thing to put them through for no good reason. You ,she, and your nieghbors will be miserable.

Mine is different, she's very sociable ang loving... she can even retrive things for me! she even puts me to sleep by purring.... Your friend's cat might have experienced some trauma causing her to be anti-social... You will do the right thing by having her fixed, its in no way affect her behavior... besides, ul do her good with spaying (health reasons)

Go watch my persian kitty doing her tricks :P

I have a persian and she is a very very laid back cat. It's not from being fixed, it's just their breed. Getting fixed usually does not affect their temperment. It actually will keep them healthy and happier.
