I lived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from August 2003 until July 2006. (I'm American). Jeddah is on the Red Sea which has some of the most beautiful diving and snorkeling in the world. It is a Muslim country with Mecca and Madina being Holy Cities. Only Muslims are allowed to travel to those cities. It is very safe, contrary to what the media would have you believe and the standard of living is great. Salaries are tax-free and usually much higher than in your home country. I've made many life time friends from all over the world there, including those from Saudi Arabia. In fact, I miss it a LOT!
