There's a trend developing here. I'm thinking that the answer may be 'never'.

Never if he wants to keep his marriage.

So I really liked your story about the girl at Dance better or when you were a man.... but if this were a REAL situation, here would be my answer.... So why exactly are your trying to seduce a married man? You should be ashamed of yourself. Tell him something came up and stay as far away from him as possible. Do you want to be know as the office tramp who ruins marriages? I am sure office parties would be great for you after that. Put yourself in his wife's shoes. Would you want your husband to be having drinks with another woman? Don't become a ****. STAY AWAY FROM MARRIED MEN. By the way... don't you have anything better to do?

Well, I think it all depends. Is the man reliable? Is the girl he meeting a co-worker or a boss... and a woman that the wife knows and is comfortable with her husband being alone with. There other variables to consider than just "meeting" for a drink... or drinks.
My first instinct would be to say never but that would be wrong because everyone has got to have their social freedoms, even if they are married. That said... the meeting for drinks must be a strictly platonic thing (mutually) and there better be no... um... hanky panky afterwards.
But it all ultimately depends on the marraige and how far the wife is willing to let her husband go with his "freedoms"... so, in the end it is she who decides how loose the leash should be.

I cannot believe everybody on this page, it is acceptable for a married man to have a drink with a single woman if they are friends.

If the wife isn't her friend (I'm sure that she would have no problem going for a drink with a single guy friend of hers) it doesn't matter if you don't see him in that way and he doesn't see you in that way then where is the harm!

However if he or you feel they may be more then you should end your friendship before it ends his marriage

It would only be ok if the single girl was an old friend or something like that. But the wife should know about it or be asked to join them. other than that ...never

Never say never. If she is his sister, niece, cousin or child, then it is by all means acceptable. If it is the in course of the job then it is also allowed. If she is just a very hot irresistible single girl for whom he has a fatal attraction, well then...

Never! The married man made a commitment to his wife to love her and her only! Unless they're getting a divorce, then it's acceptable. If they're not even considering this a date, he still shouldn't do it. He might find some attraction to this girl.

IF: the man is separated from his wife, the person is a relative OR a workmate, or a friend to whom you've been introduced and you've been asked along

It doesn't! Of course, if the girl wants to be labelled a slag, on her head be it. But think how you would feel if YOUR hubby was having drinks with a single gal?!

It's fine as long as everyone (wife, husband, single girl) is happy with the situation.
