In kickboxing(well at least thai) you kick with your shin and the power comes more from the torque(pivoting on foot twisting hip, and swinging of arms) while taekwondo is more kicking with the foot and get its power from the snapping motion of the leg.

taekwondo sparring is focus more on point scoring while kickboxing is more knockout

kickboxing is practically boxing but you can use kicks, elbows, and knees too; taekwondo at least to me focus more on kicks than punches.

kickboxing the techniques are less fancy and easier to learn, while taekwondo is a lil more flashy and harder to learn and tend to require great flexibity

the fighting stance and and blocking is pretty different. kickboxing resembles more western boxing with its blocks and stance; while taekwondo remsembles the more traditional eastern arts

by the way i dont necessarily think one is better than the other i personally enjoy kickboxing more; however any art can be very effective

I did Choi Kwan Do for a while. That is a mixture of both kick boxing and Tae Kwon Do. It's harder but well worth it.

The guy who invented Tae Kwan Do realised that it wasn't enough to defend yourself. Thus the reason for Choi Kwan Do. Yes there are patterns different depending on the belt.

Tae Kwon Do is also a lot more defensive than Kick Boxing. Good Luck!

In Tae Kwon Do tournaments you are not allowed to punch to the face, you do most of you scoring with kicks. You can punch to the center of the chest. Tae Kwon Do has some different kicks like the reverse side kick, spinning heel kick, jumping round house kick, and tornado kick. Tae Kwon Do is weak in upper body defence so that is why are school trains in Hapkido as well.

In kick boxing it is a bit like boxing but has a lot of kicking. In tae kwon do the movements are more liquid while kickboxing is choppy.

There are no "patterns" in kick boxing , Instead it is based upon using the hand strikes of boxing with the kicks found in tae kwon do . It's a sport , Tae kwon do is a martial art .
