I have a chocolate lab and I could rebuild a new one from the hair I pick up each day. My vet said shedding goes with the breed. My Saints only shed twice a year but, the lab sheds constantly. If you want a labradoodle I think you have a 50/50 chance it will shed. DONT know for sure. I have heard from different people some say theirs do shed and others have said theirs don't. Ask a Vet.

Um, the statement that Dachshunds don't shed is not true. My Doxie sheds worse than any other critter in the house.
As for dogs, I wouldn't bother paying the prices that these people are charging for their mixed breed lab/poodle. As to what might be good with your kids, this depends a little on the children you're talking about. My boys are hyper and have tons of energy, so we deicided a Border Collie would be a good breed as they are an active dog that will keep up with my children. But a small timid type of dog wouldn't be appropriate in my home. If my children were more gentle then maybe.
So you have some questions to ask yourself about your lifestyle and activity level of your family to determine what breed would be suit you.
Ofcourse, going to a local rescue is always a good option as they will be able to help you pick a dog that will make a good match for your family.
Good luck!

Why Not Get A boxer? A boxer is such a wonderful dog!
I have had two and both were the most well mannered and playfull dogs i have ever owned. Developed to serve as guard, working, and companion dog, he combines strength and agility with elegance and style. Energetic, Playful, Loyal, Family Oriented. If owners of this fun loving breed were asked to describe a Boxer these are just a few examples that would be used. The Boxer was originally bred for work but also makes an excellent choice when looking for a family pet. Although no two Boxer dogs are alike, there are common characteristics that a Boxer should display.
A poll was conducted amongst Boxer owners to choose one word to describe this breed the overwhelming choice was Playful. The Boxer is an amazing breed in its youthful exuberance is shown from the puppy stage to the senior years. A Boxer that is not playful, is just not a Boxer. With their uncanny knack for always-making owners smile, a Boxer household is one that is constantly filled with joy and laughter

The best dog you could have for children is the english setter!
They can be mistravous right up to the age of 3 but they start to settle down 4 +. From experience with my english setter and what i have read about them they are: Kind,Friendley, affectionate,
loving dogs. The last time my setter pooped, peed on the carpet, bit or shown any aggression was 7 years 2 months ago which is her age today. So there very well behaived dogs with the right serious training. However you cant leave them in the house all day long, skip days without walks or ignore them or they will be unhappy. If you do decide to get one make sure you give it lots of love and care like all dogs deserve.

Your chances of getting a low shedding Lab X Poodle are 50/50. The most terrible shedder I have seen after 30 years of working with dogs was a labradoodle.
If you want a low shedder just get a Poodle. Get a standard size, they are great with kids, smart, and a hunting breed as well.

Soft-coated wheaten terriers do not shed and are very friendly. They are medium sized and do not get as big as a labradoodle. Theyare very loving & loyal.
