I use to think it was cute that they liked to drink out of the faucet with the water running, but now I want to save the water more wisely. and whenever I go to the bathroom or to the kitchen sink they follow me how can I get them to stop. they perfer it.

They like it b/c of the calcium build up around the spicket.

I just fill a dish with water in it and put it on the floor. They get thirsty they will drink it. Put the water next to the food dish. You might also try filling this water dish as they try to drink the water from the faucet. Also allowing them to see you putting it on the floor next to their food dish. My cats are similar. But it is not like and every time thing. Just now and then. Good luck.

Mine preferred this, too. I weaned them off by letting it drip a minute or so and putting a water bowl in the tub. Now I just let it drip a few seconds and they know to go to the water bowl in the tub when the faucet get turned off.

If your cat is nothing like mine was, I have no idea what you can do. My cat would only drink from running water whether it was the sink or the gutter in the road.
I let her drink from one sink as it was better than drinking the crap off the road.

it is okay lots of cats do it i think they like that water more then the water you put in a bowl. but if you want him/her to stop when you see your cat drinking from the faucet spray them with a bit of water with your hand and she/he will stop soon

Cats like, fresh, running water....and a bowl cannot give them that. Get a cat water bowl than circulates the water....Petco, PetSmart, Pet everything else will have such a device. Our cats love the one we got from Petco.

my cat could coem drink from the sink wen i would brush my teeth...my vet said that its beacuse they like the cold "fresh" water!? so, maybe get them a lil kitty water cooler/foutain thingy!?

get them a real fountain... i had a cat like that for a bit... but if you get em a fountain they will indeed prefer it
like a real fountain not a kitty purifier thing.
