Hinduism is considered to be the oldest living religion in the world.

Hinduism is a religion that originated on the Indian Subcontinent. Hinduism encompasses many religious beliefs, practices, and denominations. The first known religion would be when man turned from God and decided to go his own way and worships animals , trees etc. Such a religion would have been dead by now. Hinduism is definetly not the oldest religion. It is a combination of the Aryan and the Dravidian gods. That occured around 4000 - 3000 B.C. when the aryans invaded india . From then arose Hinduism as known today.

Oh My! If I had a nickel for every misconception I'd be lounging by my pool with a margarita at my private villa in St. Barths instead of here answering questions :) Misconceptions abound. Wiccans worship things we don't worship, we're evil, we're all vegetarians..... the words Wicca, Witch, Pagan are all interchangeable. We're poor, we're uneducated, we're mislead, etc. There's misconceptions about our ethics, our rituals, our history... my goodness, there isn't enough space to list them all. Someone will do a much better job with this I'm sure. There are some people who aren't Wiccan who do have it right, but there are far more who don't.

The oldest of the EXTANT religions are probably Hinduism, Zoroastrianism or a primitive form Judaism. Perhaps "Adamism" for lack of a better word: he "walked with God".

Before these, polytheisms or "paganistic" pantheisms were probably the norm, expressed in a great variety of individual religions.

The cave paintings in France give clues about animism, or animal worship. Whether or not our paelientologists agree if they are human is beyond my scope.
