I need a foolproof way of revising my chemistry and physics A2's. I am the kind of person who prefers to do an hour solid rather than spacing it out so speed techniques would be super useful

i used a system that is really easy what you do is to take the main ideas that you are trying to remember and create a leading word for eg.

If i was trying to remember things about Wales i would put

W ales is a lovely place, but
A lot of rain falls, the Welsh
L ove rugby and sing about
E verything, and the place is full of
S heep

this is only a simplified version, in respect to the work you are studying you put the main points you want to remember next to a leading word, I hope you can see what I mean, when you go into exams the main word in this case WALES will remind you of the main point you want to remember about a specific points and will also create other sets of though patterns.

I did chemistry A2... I used brainstorm maps.... big cloud in the middle.... main points round the outside... if you remember the shape... you rmember the facts associated! Either that or write down buzz words then the basic facts in point form!

And most importantly.... RE-READ the question all the time! The wee runts always change the wording from what you're used to so check eveything twice.... you may get method marks for illustrating your answer but the difference between putting a "-" in where is should be and not makes the difference of 5-10 marks!!!

GOOD LUCK (you'll need it!!)

Do revision in blocks of 50 mintues and take 10 minute breaks inbetween. Other than that you need to find your own revision technique. I re-write my school notes and highlight them with different colours for each subject and subjects. My mates use other techniques. Like flash cards or re-writing their notes on the computer over and over. Alos try having soft music in the background, it helps calm you. Good luck!

Apparrantly if you chew gum or some kind of sweet whilst revising, then you chew the same gum/sweet in the exam, it brings with it memories of smell, taste and what you were doing and therefore helps you remember. There is however no foolproof way of revising other than solid hard work.

Three times reading and once writing same may make perfect revising. Writing really helps.

Skim through notes and summarise the gist by drawing mindmaps.

Go through all your note and text books and highlight the pertinent points. Then 'skim' through, before the exam, reading the bits that are highlighted.
