Actually, you could, if your counsellor was a 25 year old buxom blond with long legs, perfect set of teeth's, had $34m in the bank and drove a Ferrari.

Addicted to counseling? Well now a days we know and have heard of all types of addictions. I never heard of this kind although I wouldn't doubt it -
For me, I like to have validation at times and although I am not in counseling I go to friends and family a whole lot - seeking their advice and imput mostly because I want to make the right decisions.
Other times I have found that I was insecure about failing so thats why I wanted validation, but truly there is nothing wrong in my opinion for seeking out the best thing to do - just as long you are making your own decisions weighing the advice and using it to your benefit --

Actually maybe not addicted cos Counsellors know when to pull pin, more so they become dependant on them for advice ,rather than accept responsibility to make own decisions outright without first running it past a Counsellor.

It's a fine line to keep ppl at arms length so as not to be too involved, as many times you go home completely exhausted with some of the issues presented.

Having many cases tho you close folder and on to the next patient and time is of essence, otherwise it only adds stress.

The satisfaction tho from seeing ppl improve after each session is so rewarding in a lot of cases ,well others never really get better just exist with help from Counsellors.
It's one big roundabout with more n more ppl seeking help in these troubled days.
Vacation time is time to recharge own batteries away from everyone believe me..Cheers

my vague understanding is that it a question of having an addictive personality compounded with any sense of exhibitionism.

I think day time talk shows prove that people are obssessed with talking about their problem, but seem to forget thats the first step in any genuine reform, and their are another eleven to go, mostly internal and almost always private.

I think the key would be to note if a patient/client is being reffered a lot, and focus on what is causing this behaviour with a firm stand by the counseller.in any form of counselling is a half way process and the client has to work to help themselves.

I am sure there are counselors who could handle such an addiction. lol I guess good drugs as long as you have to pay for them and make more doctor's richer than they already are.,besides someone has to help the poor doctor's make that payment on the 2nd BMW that sits in the garage for wifee can go shopping on the weekends.

It could actually happen but it's more likely that someone would become dependent on a counsellor.

There actually are people of that particular nature. they love the attention and often go to "group" because they are sad little people.
