I have applied to join the Army. I want to be in the REME or Logistics. Is it a good idea and what are peoples opinions. Also what would be the best type of job in the Army if i want to use the skills in later life for a job such as aviation security or similar?

Johan.....Aviation Security are the people behind the scenes you may not see in the Airport. They are experts on Security Explosives, armed threats etc etc. Usually in plain clothes millin around the airport....watching people.

Logistics?
Be VERY careful - they'll send you to Deepcut Barracks for basic training, did you know that?
As long as a very big question mark is hanging over that place and the Army cannot or will not clear it up, I would be inclined to avoid it like the plague.
If I were starting out today, and basic homework about the service told me that the training centre where I would be based as a recruit is asoociated with
i) Systematic bullying and beating up of recruit soldiers
ii) Physical and sexual assaults on recruit soldiers by corrupt NCO's who I would not put in charge of cleaning toilets
iii) A regime where some recruits have been allowed to form gangs which then prey on weaker soldiers
iv) The mysterious deaths by shooting of at least FIVE soldiers, all of which a botched investigation has put down to suicide;
Then I would be very suspicious of enlisting - it's the job of the enemy to make your life a misery and then kill you, not your own side!
Go into the infantry: I don't recall a single episode of bullying or serious beasting during my recruit training, possibly because we didn't have the time for crap like that. Yes, the training was hard; yes, it was constant and unrelenting; but our directing NCO's were fair as well as hard. EVERYONE got "beasted" at some point, in the sense of hard words or perhaps an occassional slap or kick, but never to the point where it ws systematic, or certain individuals were picked on, or you needed to go to hospital afterwards. There'll be time later to specialise in supply, BQMS, logistics, et c.

If its what you want to do, then great - go for it.
Don't join up however, if you have some idealistic image of defending old Blighty's shores from invading armies.
That's not what our British Armed Forces do anyore.
Nowadays, our armed forces are used almost exclusively to assist in America's global empire building strategy.
It's the main reason I got myself out of the RAF.
For Nanna:
You don't just join the army as a warrant officer.
You join as a private. If you want to become a warrant officer, you have to work very hard for a long long time, slowly crawling your way up the rank ladder.

Any of the Armed Services is a good career choice. The initial military training can seem tough and at times pointless, but is essential to instill military discipline. REME; RE; etc, will train you in a trade which will be accepted in civvie street. I wish you good luck in your choice. You will always be proud of the time you served.

sure, think ofyou've got to enlist contained in the military to develop right into a defense force Ranger. although, that's plausible to artwork it out inclusive of your recruiter so that you'll enlist as Infantry, attend Ranger college after uncomplicated and AIT, and then likely serve with the75th Ranger Regiment. it will be lots of exertions, yet you may do it.

i would say dont do it at this point in history. i agree with the army in the way it maketh the man yep you should ask veterans if the cause that is becoming global is a just cause ,our governments are run by world banks (the new world order) and are using the army as a tool for world domination ,using the people as cannon foder even if you dont agree watch this film take 2 hours of your day as this is quite important and it is best to be informed as the decision you make affects the rest of your life .watch this link http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=786048453686176230&q=terrorstorm whatever you do make sure this is the right decision for you buddy laterz.
